OK, time to summarise. 75 miles in Essex, starting from Billericay (regular trains from Liverpool St). In principle we should be back before dark, but lights recommended in case we're not (punctures, mechanicals, etc), likewise spare tube, patches, pump, basic tools etc.
8am (approx) start OK for everyone? May as well make the most of daylight. Pub lunch, somewhere.

Did a 25 mile ride in the Essex countryside early Sunday morning. Rode through drizzle and wind so good practice for Saturday |

Must admit the forecast is not looking absolutely lovely, but there's plenty of time yet for that to change.
I propose getting the 07:34 from Liverpool St, arr 08:06. Cheap day return £9.30 |

If you travel together you can save more (think it's called GroupSave). Or if one of you has a network railcard I think you can get 4 people on a reduced price rate.
I'm sooooo practical, me |

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/90027 is (approximately but I think mostly) the route as described on the route card, if anyone wants to do gpx stuff.
I had to guess in a few places, because instructions like "right at post office" aren't much help when the map doesn't show post offices |

I can't make Saturday.
Could make Sunday (if Micheal Fish plays ball). |

Always reluctant to make calls on the weather before an event but I think if the weather looks substantially better on the Sunday I think I might prefer to do that.
How would that affect everyone? Maybe we should make the call Thur or Fri??? |

It's probably a little early to be making calls on the weather, tbh. Wait till Friday eve/Saturday and decide then, you'll have a much better idea.
Sadly I've gone and booked loads of lessons on Sunday so can't make it then either. Well not really sadly, as I love teaching, but it does mean I'd miss out anyway. |
