Looking at the dent in the top tube of my better bike, I notice that where there used to be an arguable crease, there is now a definite crack :-(
I don't know how much longer it'll last, but it's probably time to start keeping an eye out for a new frame to transplant the rest of the bits onto. |

Sorry to hear that.
I don't know what they have in stock at the moment, but I got my Giant TCR C frame from JEJames cycles. They do some great deals on them
Good luck (and dont forget the tyres ) |

Ouch.
Was your frame* made from ali?
*Think of it as a bit of art now if that helps. |

| If it's a visible crack then it's likely to result in sudden failure - cracks can propagate in ally very quickly, so the advice would be to avoid riding until you get a new frame. I'm watching a little crack in one of my carbon frames - the result of brake-testing Disco in the wet - I'm waiting until it gets bigger and start creaking before it becomes a garage wall ornament! |

I'm such a sucker for an apparent bargain (and they have 2005 Mirage brake calipers as well, time to upgrade the stoppers on the other bike). Thanks Andy for the pointer
Guess who just got paid. |

Well, join the bandwagon chase down, but luckily Basingstoke cycling is a decade back on London, so I'm right ahead of the fashionista curve. Now where is my messenger bag.
That said I will have brakes, maybe even both...
For those that don't know, Josh is entertaining himself in the garage with those MTB disc front hub conversion kits. |

Now that I ruined my rear wheel whilst trying to shift into the nonexistent gear above granny gear, breaking three spokes and making the rest of the wheel stiff like pudding, I found a place to weep here.

After a whole bunch of delays caused mostly by use of a courier who couldn't find my house (I am considering printing them a map of their own buttocks and adding two handles at its edges), I have collected, fitted and (very very nearly[*]) finished my new frame. I have been around the block on it (literally, if not euphemistically) and it appears to work. Headsets now hold no fear for me.
It's 9.7kg all up (with air in tyres and multitool in saddle bag), so probably still heavier than Andy's carbon thing.
[*] Still need to cut and crimp the cable ends, preferably before the wire coming out of the front mech scores a channel in my calf.

How can it be heavier than Andy's carbon bike? It's made of cardboard! |
