Now the season is over it's time to look ahead to next year. Don't know the date yet but I am assuming 26th September until published otherwise.
I was speaking to some of the participants in the A2A and there was a general interest in the idea of skating in a high participation marathon such as Berlin. Clarence, one of the skaters I started and finished with, was exceptionally keen and I am in contact with him via email. I have given him details of the event and this forum.
Some useful Links:
Our 2008 thread
The organiser's website (Not updated with 2009 even at time of posting)
The accommodation used by many of us
I am looking forward to registering again come January to take advantage of the early bird discount. I hope to be fit and stress free next year so I can aim for a sub 1:25 but will have to wait and see about that.
Bring it on! |

| Just noticed whilst doing next years calendar, Berlin 2009 looks likely to be on Sat 19 Sept , much earlier than normal |

So it does. Same day as Duluth. Not that anyone here is likely to go to Duluth but it does mean that they can't both be in the WIC in 09.
There is still some confused messages over the status of the WIC in 2009. I know Connie has stepped down or retired now but Iguana seem to be sailing on but perhaps with no firm hand at the helm. I think it's just behind for this year as they get going but I fear there may be a reduced WIC this coming year.
Anyway I digress. 19th September is my birthday weekend so that'll be be nice. Bday is 21st. Gill's is about there too. |

| As I'm sure some others did, I got an email from the organisers to say that online registration is now open and that there is a €10 reduction in the registration fee for those registering by January 31. As that's pretty much £10 these days, that's a decent incentive! |

| This is just a reminder that the price will go up after 31st January (at the moment it is 45 Euros). |

| roger - did you manage to sign up online for the double or did you send off paper forms as instructed on their website? |

I signed up on-line - the signup process includes a 'do the double' option, and it adds the extra cost in automatically. I signed us up using the Skater link, so hopefully we get a reasonable start block for the skate, based on our skate times - our run times put us in the back block for the run anyway, so there is no point in worrying about that. |

It is definitely going to be one week earlier than usual, i.e. September 19th, due to parliamentary elections on the "regular" marathon weekend. |

hmm i put 1:40 as my estimated finish time but I have no idea what I'm likely to get as I've never been to Berlin... hopefully that gives me a decent enough skate block! |
