Anyone fancy doing a bit of a bike ride on Saturday evening?
Heading out from the Vic about 8.30 to Richmond then back via all the Thames bridges (crossing each one) to Tower bridge.
That's about 36 miles (I've added a back to the Vic bit on the map to make 40 miles in total).
Easy pace, can stop for drinks/photos if we like.
Route here http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2404426 |

| Too soon for me - I need to pass my cycling proficiency test first...I'll be interested in future rides though. |

Just kidding - I'm just starting out so need to get accustomed to the road, turning, and your general bike riding skills |

| I'd be up for some of that. Need to find my slow puncture or ride my mountain bike. |

I'll third that Ed. It's easy and safe riding in a group, it takes away nearly all the intimidation from traffic, and you'll pick up stuff quickly from the others. Besides which, I can't see you having any difficulty anyway.
Brilliant idea, Big, it's very tempting! |

Thanks. And unlike Le Mans there's no discrimination against fixed wheels, 'bents*, time trials bike, triathlon bars etc etc.
*we maybe just a little |

*cough* I was about to mention those bloody uphills. Only they weren't very big, were they? And they still made me so much slower, you guys went up them like rockets.
Hopefully the newly increased fitness, and the much lighter bike should help make me slightly less slow uphill. |

My problem with DD was that my knees were shagged when I started the ride, on account of having done L2B the previous night.
I'm provisionally up for this (need to check), but I'll be on the sensible bike (rack, mudguards, panniers) not the fast one. |
