|

Hello,
I'd like to start my skating year by skating the voie verte in France from Dieppe to forges les eaux. French link Its a 45km skating lane WITH NO TRAFFIC. I have never been there so I can't give a fair description.
The plan is for a long weekend sleeping there friday night and saturday. The date has been choosen in view of those of you going to sardinia so that you can add a bit of mileage to your legs.
The main skate will take place on Saturday. depending on the number of participant, we might have one or two pace lines. The obvious distance is 90km but some might consider doing it twice....
I plan to spend the sunday with my familly so I wont skate or maybe only a short distance.
Organisation:
I'll book B&B for any one confirming that they are coming before end of January. You will need to organise your own transport.
Cost:
Cheap is good, so F1 hotel or similar unless I can find a nice and cheap B&B
Transport:
Car is a must. From Calais, Dieppe is 1h20 away, most of it motorway. Please indicate if you plan on driving there and how many sits are available to share.
Food:
Not included in any way, will depend on people coming and what is available.
budget:
based 3 sharing a car and room:
Petrol: £20 + Ferry £30 + £20 Hotel + Food??
Warning: This trip include a baby So if you are allergic to crying babies... dont come. On the other hand, if you have a familly, this is a nice oportunity to invite every one.

I'd like that place if possible
If we get enough for two car loads then I'd quite hapily drive the other car. |

| It sounds very appealing and all the more interested if family is welcome, I am then considering about my 2 little ones. I am seriously considering this trip. |

| Sounds good. So are you planning on bringing the baby/children skating already? And if so, are you happy for those without children to scoot on ahead? |

That sounds like an excellent plan Alex. We have already signed up for a cross-country skiing marathon on that date, otherwise would have liked to go.
We have skated the Voie Verte in Dieppe before and its quite nice. The only problem is that there are a lot of barriered crossings to break your rhythm, which would make a 180km day difficult. There are also very few places to get refreshments.
BTW it is possible without a car. We got a train to Newhaven, then a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe, and you can skate from Dieppe to the start of the Voie Verte, or get a taxi. |

My papoose will stay with the mum on the main skating day...
She is too young to stay in a sports pram for that long.

I'd definitely be up for this.
The Newhaven to Dieppe route certainly looks a good option.
Ferry out @ 17:30 on Friday
Ferry back @ 20:00 Sunday
cost £18 as a foot passenger, £40 for car with driver, £75 for car with driver and three additional passengers. |
