Hy folks,
next Sunday I will have my first race on skates ever. It will be a half-marathon in Bremerhaven (North of Germany) and it is supposed to be a very, very small race with about 80 skaters at all. Nevertheless I'm getting excited by now.
As I will be the only LSST member racing there I hope I will not disgrace our team
So, if you do not have anything else to do on Sunday the 17th please cross your fingers for me that I will finish the race (in a good time) and that it won't be a rain race.
And if you have any good tips: please tell me
God, I'm excited...
Cheers

Tips.
For your first race, is your target just to finish, or to finish in a specific time? If it's just to finish so you have a base line to improve on,start at a speed you know you can continue until the finish.
If you have practiced drafting behind other skaters you will find it very useful to get you going faster without getting tired. It may even leave you with a little something to sprint to the end.
If possible, never skate on your own and never go to the front of a line.
Top tip....enjoy it. |

| Good luck, you must be very excited! Don't get stressed and just rely on your lovely smooth skating stride. Of course we expect an early report here on Sunday evening soon after the race. |

| Michaela, you skate very well. You'll be nervous at the start but after the 1st 15 minutes or so, you'll be loving it. Good luck! |

Well, that was it. We had a very nice day at a small, but great race on the shores of the North sea... Michi did very well in her 1st one, and I'm sure she'll post something up soon. So I'll stick with the results for now:

Schüler, Merten (GER) MAKT Skate-Connection.de

Hi everybody,
as already announced and promised, here is my short report (for those who are interested in more details: send me a PM and I will email you the long version):
we started at 8:45 pm - in time. The beginning of the race were cobbles, but not the very bad ones. As there were not many skaters it was difficult to find a paceline, but after about 5 km I succeeded and found two guys to run with.
Now I am looking forward to my first full marathon
Thank you very much for all the encouraging words, I tried my best today for LSST!
Cheers
