Ok, I'm looking to do these again, but with a few changes to how I've approached them before - at least for the winter months.

The aim is to do lower intensity cycling and increase in duration (aiming for 1.5-2 hours).  There will also be a detour to one of the nearby "hills" just to add a bit of variety and dynamic to it.

The first attempt will be on Monday - probably leaving my flat around 5.30pm.  Everybody is welcome to join me in all or part of the "session" though bear in mind that it's an informal arrangement.

Ace Smile

Is there any chance this could start a little later? Two reasons: excursions from RP wouldn't be into rush hour traffic and... I might be able to make the start Smile

So start at 6.15,  hour of lappies, hour of excursion into hills / norf london etc.

Whatcha think?

H

The plan was laps of Regents Park, a detour to some of the nearby hills and then back again for a few laps cool down.  Happy to vary it a bit.

I usually work from home on Mondays, so can usually get out earlier.  I guess I could always have a 45 minute warm up, and then let you lead the way for the rest of it Razz

The other point being is that start early, finish early, keep the missus happy Wink  Happy to play it by ear though.

I'd like to join you guys.

Been thinking about RP laps for a while now, but cannot get over the idea that I'll get bored so I've kept putting this off...

Happy with the low intensity plan as well, suits my training plan very well.

I may skip the hilly bits, though, and just wait for you to come back for cooldown Wink

I'm also for the early start, unless the missus wants to join in, in that case a later start would suit us better...

Ed, thanks for bringing this up! Smile

No way - that'll be the best bit!  Don't worry, the aim isn't to power up them, but just to ensure we incorporate a bit of leg strength into the mix.

I might join you for your post-hill warm down laps.  Work these days isn't quite as cushy as it was when I worked for the Swiss, so escaping early enough for the pre-hill laps is highly unlikely.

Ok - my proposed plan for the evening would be:
- set off from mine around 5.30pm
- warm up laps
- pick up Howard (and Christophe?) at Hanover Gate around 6.15pm (or earlier)
- more laps (5?) until we get bored
- venture up north for a bit, following this route (thanks to Adrian for the tip)
- come back for some warm down laps (2?) and hopefully see Pamela

I'll join you for laps but not for the hills! Depending on when I leave work I'll either stop home and drop my things off or just head straight for the park and meet you at Hanover Gate at 6:15.

(Anyway, your low intensity is likely my giving it my all...)

It's a gentle incline - you'll be fine Smile

I'm waiting to hear back from your other half to see if he's definitely coming!

I might be tempted to tag along in a few weeks/ in the new year.

Though the early start time and needing to not have my small rucksack combination has me beaten at the moment Sad

T'was a nice ride out, a little bit on the chilly side from the wind, but otherwise rather pleasant!

Thanks to Howard, Lan-Lan and Christophe for the company.

Howard's suggestion of the rider in front sprinting off for 30 seconds then slows down and drops to the back of the group when they caught up added variety and a more structured rotational approach - in future, I might swap sprinting for acceleration as I don't want to over exert myself (and save some legs for the hill work).

Unfortunatley Howard and I didn't make it to the top of Hamstead Heath due to traffic, so stopped just short of Hamstead station.  I think my legs were quite relieved anyway Smile

I look forward to next week.

I arrived at home with 46.2km on the counter, so went round the block to make it an even 50km Smile
