July 3rd, 2005, 16 hours : Alain, Cédric and Thibaut will embark for a stunning journey : Le Mans Roller 24 hours Solo.

How many kilometres ? Or better, how many hundreds of kilometres will they reach ?

Starting at the same time as the team skaters, they will race among 5 000 other skaters (yes, you !) who also come to have fun in this exceptional race.

Racing alone, an egocentric choice ? Certainly not : all three racers routinely train with others, take part in group events, sometimes organize them. So, among all the occasions to skate together, there will be... 24 Solo

This website tells their story - in French.

Try to lets us know what colours they will be racing in, if I see them on the track I will give them very special "Oi Sunbeam" shouts of encouragement.

I'd be interested to know how they schedule themselves over the 24 hour event, ie do they sleep, how long they go for without breaks etc etc.

doubt it - Ive done 24 hour challenges before (mountain climbing, not skating) and you just keep going. so doubt there will be any breaks or sleep.

There's a small chance Jonathan Seutter might be joining the 24 hour solos.

Thanks all for your kind encouragement, I will transfer to the skaters, they will be very much appreciated Smile

This is Thibaut :

He will probably be skating in this skinsuit, along with... 40 other PUC skaters, which will not help ; that is a good question.

Another good question is

Subject is... given much attention right now. They will have to take into account the fact that this a première for them (24 hrs continuous effort), and going to sleep, or merely losing focus, at the end of the downhill would be a wrong idea. Alain has ideas to experiment.

I will try to add more to the website as the date comes up : already 4 more solo skaters will join, interviews will be done - soon as I can get hold of them.
