Wasn't as bad as the forecast said - second half of the course was dry and we had neither sleet nor rain.
Results are already available online. Tanya placed 22nd. Congratulations. |

Here is the extract (sorry can't remember skaterliesl real name)
Pos Pos(Cat) Startnr. Name Club Cat Time Net
22 18 X1134 » Gibson, Tanya (GBR) Cado Motus (UK) WH 00:42:59
1 1 X1612 » Kessels, Janina (DEU) SCC XSpBerlin W30 00:46:06 00:46:03
166 27 T1590 » Morgan, Andy (GBR) LSST M50 00:49:57 00:49:41
260 54 T1894 » Trichard, Louis (AUS) London M30 00:52:45 00:52:40
Tanya's was an awesome result, not many seconds outside the British record and in not nice conditions (the second half may have dried out in parts but I assure you people were sliding/falling on the slippery surface right to the last corner!)
Pleased with my time given conditions, and I had been skating hard all week in Sardinia. Oh and one other thing, me and our new friend from Denmark, Ken, were up for several hours the night before (sorry again Tanya ) after some extremely iffy Tuna in the Italian restaurant by the Three Pigs. To say we were dehydrated was a gross understatement
Louis was also pleased as he had a fall to recover from and also started in the last group so also well done.
All in all most enjoyable and will def try and do same thing next year
One thing to note, I had not expected to be in the M50 class untill next year, but it seems I am, so I guess I'd better start serious training earlier than planned

Germans and Swiss take your birth year as your age group. If you are doing the Euro and/or World Masters in Gera, Germany and Zurich then you might end up in either category because International rules should apply which means age on 1st Jan but the germans applied their rulebook to me last year and categorised me in the M40s if I had known I would have started with my new age group and done much better than starting with the M30s and not even bothering to race.
Make sure you know your category before you start at the blocks will be by age. |

Well done guys; Tanya's result does seem really impressive.
Just a couple of questions. Was that 18th out of the girls? How did the conditions compare to last years full marathon i.e. was it as slippery as last years Berlin marathon? |
