| Yep. It looks massive but C will be mighty busy too. B on the other hand should be quite small |

| Does this mean I'm doomed to always be in a busy group? |

From that does it mean you can get into A based on time, rather than invite?
(Not that I can, would still need to drop 80 seconds.) |

Maybe, but proper proof would be required, I imagine and it's probably limited to licensed racers. |

Fred's been automatically put into A before (and then begged to be moved back to B) |

| I seem to remember Fred got put into A via Sebby. Did he get in there another time? |

A quick Berlin related question: What should be my last day of skating before the race?
I've got the week before off and will probably slalom until I can't stand each day but don't want to be still recovering from it on race day. |

| You looking for the very best you can be then tuesday would be the last day. 3 rest days though you can taper a bit into wed. Carb starve until Tue then load for 3 days and stay well hydrated the whole time. |

Cheers Rick - I think I'll skate my heart out on Sat-Tues and then just marshal without over doing it on the Wednesday. The advice on the carbs sounds great as well - I had no idea you were supposed to carb starve before carb loading. |

The carb starving to superloading work really well if you don't do it too often. I did it 4 weeks in a row for 4 consecutive marathon weekends and my body reacted rather negatively on the 4th race. Went hypogycaemic in the final km. That may be just me as I come from a family riddled with diabetes but it's something to take into account if you have anything similar.
I have to say that my 1st and 3rd races of the 4 were two of the best I have ever done and my energy levels surprised me. 2nd one was bad for a different reason...found myself in the front paceline after the first bend and decided to see how long I could last. I died quite horribly after 4km and didn't recover fast enough to catch the next few lines but it was interesting while it lasted. |

It all depends on how much you do normally. If you normally train < 7 hours a week then the best advice is probably to have a few days rest before the marathon. If you do more then you need to back off from your normal training but probably not complete rest.
On a completely separate topic I noticed today, purely by chance, that my EHIC (or E111 as it was formerly known) expires several days before Berlin. If you have an EHIC its certainly worth checking that its still valid. If you haven't got one then you really should get one. |

| Is anyone getting race insurance? At Le Mans I was part of a group buy, which topped up travel insurance to cover an accident in the race. |

Myself and my sister are not flying back till Tues pm, and want to try the Flaming routes on Sun/Monday/Tues (depending on fitness and weather).
Is anyone interested in joining us?
Does anyone who has done it before have any advise or can let me know the best way to find out more about it? |
