Yes that's my sister Alison - nice pic!
Unfortunately, the image captures the exact moment when she was told to quit skating and jump on the bus! I think this was about 3/4 the way through the race. Does anyone know the location of the church where these photos were taken?
She might be a little gutted to see this! ....but actually she did really well. She very much wanted to go on and finish despite the difficult conditions....
....and she really appreciated being part of the London Skaters in Berlin.
By the way my daughter's friend Freja (currently studying in Berlin) finished in about 2 hrs 52 mins - her first marathon. |

Hi all, I had a great Berlin marathon.
Unfortunately our friends who picked up the start number didn't check what block I was in. I ended up in block C where B could have been possible. But after my bad performance in Colone last yrear in the wet I was too eager to get myself in B.
At first I tried a little too hard to be fast. Taking the lead every now and then. That wore me out pretty quick and I couldn't keep up with one group. When the next group came by I settled in the group watching my technique. Which turned out to be the right thing to do. I had a pretty easy skate and after the uphill we caught the group I had left again..
With some 5km to go I skated to the front of my group, and with just 4km to go (left turn) I took a fall in the same way that Richard did. Front wheel in a tarmac junction). I managed to carch up with the pack in the last few km but couldn't make my way to the front. I ended somwhere in the middle of the pack. 1.31.53 (I think)
I had a great time in the rain, constant smile on my face during the race.
Me, in yellow
Tessa, also in yellow |

On this Berlin Marathon route (dutch site) You can find the church after about 24.4km. |
