Spotted this a few days ago, thought it was perhaps interesting
| On the Bont forum, Bill Begg wrote: |
I have been in Singapore teaching for 5 days now, I have not said anthing about teaching the double push, but have concentrated, some basics of looping behind, body weight position, arm action, plus the relevance of inside & outside edges.
Now after 3 days 2 of the better ones, who were videod on the road, could in fact do the double push, the version was that good, that in some cases, they exactly fitted 5 or 6 concecutive frames of Chads, frame by frame skills.

So perhaps, we should be coaching good technical basics & the rest will fall into line, for those who want to perfect the double push technique.

| if you can't set down on a centre edge under your body no point in doing the double push (other than the person want to know if for reasons other than skating faster/better) |

I think that's a given, yes. I thought it was interesting that these skaters apparently developed a DP independently without it being taught, is all.
Of course, they'll have had other coaches and stuff previously: I doubt they were tabula rasa |

Too bad... I thought one day I would wake up and can do the DP. Well, that would be too good to be true... |

| This goes with what Sebby was saying too (sort of). We don't do double push (in sardinia) because you need to ensure your normal push is good before working on the double. |
