It occurs to me that I have most of the components necessary to build a dedicated bike for my trainer and avoid stressing my nice new frame doing sprint intervals on it. What I'm lacking amounts to
- rear mech (anything that guides/tensions the chain will probably work, but I don't think the chainline is going to be good enough to do without)
- handlebars
- seatpost and saddle
- left hand crank (170mm)
- something to keep the front forkends off the ground
plus pedals and chain and a gear cable, but I'll buy them new anyway - my excuse to upgrade to a proper road clipless system on the nice bike.
Does anyone have any of this stuff kicking around that they would be prepared to let go for price-of-a-pint money or thereabouts? Need not be pretty, expensive, or new, provided it works. Alternatively, if you've seen it in shops for Dead Cheap recently, let me know that too (Decathlon had £12 drop bars this afternoon, I wish this idea had occurred to me earlier ...)
Can swap (long shot, but I may as well...): two biopace chainrings, Campag Veloce CT front mech (band-on fitting for outsize tube), cartridge BB for Italian shell, world's most useless CF minipump, pair of elderly Shimano single-pull brake calipers, Hovis Freewheel bell(!). Will also swap unused longish handlebar stem for anything shorter, if anyone has a sub-100mm stem and wants a more forward riding position. |

You can have my old saddle if you want, Selle Royal Viper. 140mm. Looks a bit like this: http://www.ciclonline.com/f.tecnica2007/viper1.jpg . Will exchange for a pint (oh hang on, I've gone tepmporarily teetotal so will have to be a lime and soda ). I don't know if I need any of the stuff you're offering in exchange. Will have to speak to my mechanic.

Think I can do a Shim rear mech fo some form, and if you want to have a nose through my spares bag/box for other things, I may also have a seat pin too, but I can't remember, much of the rest of the stuff you want went on to the bike on my TT at the moment (Josh's low pro Orbit)
I drilled a hole in a bit of wood to do the service of a front wheel (not too sure how tubs and punctures do loaded up long term.)
I also have your Tesco, "not quiet a Frenx but not bad..." torch.
Nothing with me tonight sadly. |

Sol: yes please to saddle
Peter: and to rear mech
The frame has a seatpin fitted already, so no problem there there. |
