Special thanks to Rick and Gav for organising this one; it was a great event for skating.

Personally, I struggled in the conditions but it was good to meet other athletes and if we can tag along with other sports that will defn lift the profile of the sport.

That was good fun, though hard work.  Skating uphill on leafmould needs an entirely different technique ...

That downhill/uphill as we came back over the bridge was pretty awesome: actually the whole course would be very nice if dry.

My race was pretty good considering that my warm up was pants (as in, I wasn't warm at the start) - so my back started to hurt in the first, oh, five hundred metres or so.  Not smart.  And I think I could have finished better if I'd paid more attention to where the finish line actually was: I turned right at the hay bales and heard someone shouting to hand chips in, so slowed down - then I realised I hadn't actually seen a timing mat yet and thought I'd better carry on skating.  Still, live and learn.

Big thanks to everyone that organised/helped out, and to Mike and Garan for our three-man paceline round most of the course.

What a technical race that was Smile

I enjoyed the challenge, and it was great that the rain held off.  Thanks to everyone who organised and took part.

Matt, if you came in after me, then you would have been 23rd - I was well surprised when you overtook me on the downhill - looks like I need even more of a belly Wink

Looks like it didn't register my first lap (and I guess the same thing happened to Hans).  I thought I heard a beep, but I wouln't swear to it: I wasn't paying much attention.  Grr.  48.32 would have put me only 30 seconds behind Vinny, too (fourth place)

Surely that's 47.32?  In any case, are you able to follow this up?

The results show a women's LSST 1-2-3 finish, is this right (he asks, hopefully)?

It was a great race, although the downhills were difficult! Need to work on them!

It seems lap 1 + 2 + 3 != total time: there's that bit to the finish. The results seem wrong as I know that I was beaten by some of the women and by Dan also.

That's a very good point.  But I'd definitely have noticed if I'd finished ahead of him: the fireworks and full celestial choir would have given it away.  Mut be something not quite that simple

There's an email address for results queries on the site.  I've written to it, we'll see what happens.

A great day out and generally very well organised.

We had 1 hour 20 mins to complete it (1 hour 30 if you talked to the marshals). I did my first lap in 23.38 mins, second lap in 25.28 mins and they wouldn't let me do my last lap!  I know I'm not a speed skater but I'm a bit gutted about that when I could have done it in the time!

For the last lap, did they not move the timer thingymajig to the finish line?

If so, maybe that's the reason that they stopped people early - so they can complete the timing properly?

Good luck with that.
