|
|
Hi
I've just tried on my new Bont Jets, and they really pinch down on my toes and balls of feet,
the length is OK and they feel reasonably comfy for the rest of my feet .
If I get a larger size to fit my forefoot then they'll be too loose on my heel etc.
Just how much are they heat mouldable around the forefoot, any tips from folk with wide feet ?
Thank in advance

Fairly...I haveth the wide foot, but didn't experience the same pinching issues.
My pain was from either side beause the boot wasn't wide enough. I didn't find that anything was pressing down onto my toes or up onto the ball of my foot.
Below is a review I wrote, which includes stuff on heat moulding.

Welcome to the speed boot club...are we going to see you at Tatem / indoor session, or dare I say it, Lycra? |

Hi Ed
They're not pushing up into the ball of my foot, but just a general squashing of the toes of my mutant feet. I checked out your very good review which was helpful, but wondered just how much scope for adjustment there was in the forefoot before I either return them, or bake em.
Thx for the welcome, though maybe a little premature... as for lycra...NEVER!!!!

If it's *just* wide feet that you have, and everything else is relatively comfortable, then I'd suggest getting semi-custom skates:
http://www.bont.com/semi.htm
That's what I did with my last pair as I didn't feel I could get my Jets wide enough. I was able to push them out a few mm, to the point where it was tolerable. I had also gone for a size up to ensure the widest part were wide enough, but meant I had lots of space in the toe area.
What size are you? You could try mine out for size....I think mine are around an 8.5, but you should be able to see how wide they made them |

| My feeling is that you might need a bigger size. Only a guess though, I might be totally wrong. |

After talking to a few peeps I'm thinking of maybe getting semi custom, because it seems to me that heat moulding is more effective in changing shape rather than expanding size, is that so ?
@Alan. If I had a figure like you maybe |

Hey Mike, going for the semi-custom "wide" fit is probably the right thing to do. I never had much luck in getting the forefoot area wide enough when I had size 7.5 Jets even though there was plenty of space left at the end of the boot for toe-wiggle room. I now have a size 8.0 semi-race and this is now comfortable width-wise, but the boot is too loose around the heel so my solution is to use insoles to help with the fit around this area. If I knew then what I know now I would have gone straight for the semi-customs.
What is your foot length & width? On this chart my feet come up over an "E" width, which I guess is pretty wide. This might give you an idea a just how "mutant" your feet are. |

Hi Van
interesting, well I have size 9 Bonts which are correct for my approx 278mm length, but on the chart you refer to I'm between an E and EE for my 110mm wide hoofs, so the regular skate was never going to work was it.
I'll speak to Bont on Monday and see what they say.

Well I just got my semi custom Bonts, they're less crippling and wide enough but still press down on my toes enough to be quite uncomfortable, my question are, will they give a little in the upper forefoot, and would moulding help ?
