Will post more details later but this is a street race round a new housing estate so the tarmac is likely to be smooth. It is a 770ish metre course and will be 45minutes plus 3 laps for the leaders. This is because it is on an hourly bus route and they have to run the race between buses....interersting.

It is £4 to register in advance. I have a couple of entry forms or it is £5 on the day. They are also after marshals. If you are interested either in racing or marshaling, let me know. I am registered so my car is going up there for anyone that wants a lift. First come, first serve.

BTW there is a mention of maximum hardness 82A wheels, I guess to appease the developers that we won't damage the surface before they sell all the properties. I don't own anything less than 83A so we'll see what happens.

Yes please, I am up for this.

I'll take a place in car if still availlable.

I'll try to make it too. I'll test waters with the missus and will post here. I'll drive if I come.

I too could be interested, for myself an even possibly Marion as she'll be in London. We'd love a lift if available.
Rick, can you find out if it's suitable to "all levels" (ie. open to skaters not into speed or FISS-registered) and also what time the race finishes (there's a eurostar for us to catch at 8pm).

Okay here are the full details:

It is a marathon type event and is open for all members including unregistered skaters. The main race will start as soon as the 14:45 bus had gone though so it should be well finished by 15:45 so a 20:00 Eurostar will not be a problem.

The Lap board will count up for 45 minutes. Then a checkered flag will be held up an the lap board turned to 3. Those a lap or more down will be asked to finish at this time. Those on the same lap will race for the 3 laps. Officials will monitor only the leading group.

FISS members should wear their numbers.

Closing date for postal entries is next Monday (12th) I don't have any more forms. Thought I did but the other paperwork is an officials reply sheet and the details sheet.

There is also a kiddies race of 1 or two laps where beginners can also race 1540m is not particularly chellenging unless you are a complete novice.

Send a FISS entry form with a cheque for £4 made payable to Eastern Region Roller Speed Accociation to:
Malcolm Chapman
8 Angotts Mead
Stevenage
SG1 2NJ

or come along and pay an extra £1 on the day. I don't have the exact address yet.

For more info see malcolm at Tatem this sunday and enter on the day. Sunday is another British Championship day. If you are eligable then enter the veterans race there then you can become British champion as no other clubs seem to have any veteran skaters that race anymore. I most ikely won't be there as I am cross training on the London to Southend bike ride this Sunday. I may get back in time to catch the end of it.

Okay that's Christophe, Marion and Gav in my motor. Mike, do you want to get in there too? Save us taking 2 cars. It's not bad 5 up in my car. We did it all the way to and back from Le Mans and Dijon last year.

Okay. Car is now full.

I guess Gav will try and go with the big boys but do Mike and Christophe want to try and skate a pace line with me? It will give us a chance of not being lapped too many times as it is way faster/more energy efficient than individual racing. Not sure how easy it will be with all the turns but it's worth a crack.

Oops hadn't noticed. Since you were first to ask after I offered, I have to withdraw my offer to Mike I'm afraid. Sorry Mike. Are you able to bring your car along? In which case we can either load balance or bring even more people.

I'm considering it and will bring my car if necessary. I need to discuss with family first to make sure that it doesn't clash with anything else...

That's OK, I didn't add up requests either. I can also take my car if necessary. Alastair, it would be really great if you can go too!

How about advertising this one on SR.com, or are no rec skaters allowed? Maybe this is a good time to capitalise on the excitement of the EM workshops and Le Mans.

That's a fine idea. It is open to everyone according to Malcolm's flyer. I'll mention it.
