|
|
As some of you may or may not know, a small number of us (Tanya, Glenn, Matthew B, Diego and Malspeedstar) try to get together to go cycling around Regents Park on weekday evenings and sometimes on the weekend.
The "session" has recently involved doing 4 laps anti-clockwise at a consistent pace (prior to that, I've only usually managed 2-3!). This will probably vary in the future to include intervals, longer distances (although 4 feels plenty enough as is!).
A common meeting place is usually just outside my flat (Fisherton Street), looking to leave around 1810, and entering Regents Park via Hanover Gate:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=London+NW88NY,+UK&daddr=Hanover+Gate,+Paddington,+Greater+London+NW8+7,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=51.527262,-0.169001&sspn=0.006648,0.018089&g=Hanover+Gate,+Paddington,+Greater+London+NW8+7,+United+Kingdom&ie=UTF8&ll=51.527489,-0.169065&spn=0.006648,0.018089&z=16
For those wanting to meet in the park, I guess an official "start time" could be 1820 on the Outer Circle just after the lights at the Hanover Gate junction.
It's usually arranged last minute by text message, but I figured that seeing as it's gaining some interest, I might as well post it up on the forum.
Please be aware that it's getting dark earlier and earlier, and despite lighting around Regents Park is sufficient to be able to see where you're going without worry, I'd recommend ensuring you ahve your own lights too.

Provided I can leave work on time, I'll aim to leave from my flat around 1815 getting to Hanover Gate for 1820.
Let me know if you're interested (and where you intend to meet) so I know whether to wait for you / update you if I'm running late or needing to cancel.
Attending:
- Ed
- Tom (meeting at the park)
- Tanya and her "VERY padded shorts" (meeting at mine)
- Dan B (meeting at the park)
- Matt B (meeting at mine)

Depends on whether we get to tag behind a faster cyclist (where you could come in ), I think an achievable target is a 20mph average, bearing in mind that the last few times, the inclining section parallel to Albany Street has been windy
Last Monday, we (Tanya, Diego and I) did just over that as we managed to tag behind a good cyclist for a few laps. Last Friday, Tanya and I did just under 20mph, but it was windy and we also had to stop / slow down a lot due to some event that was going on that had brought it's own set of traffic lights! (this was recorded using my bike computer, and also include the slower journey back from the park).
As Tanya would say, depending on who comes, it can be faster, slower or the same as that What would you be aiming for to make it worth your while? |

| TBH I don't know, but if I turn up it's on my winter bike which is a bit clunky and needs its gears fixing. 20ish sounds reasonable though |

That's a "will try to make it, but don't wait for me if it's cold"
I'm coming from the east, so will probably meet you at Hanover Gate |

Tanya, Matt B, Dan B, Tom and I.
4 laps in just over 30mins...average was just over 20mph.

That's the perfect criteria for coming on these...you can also opt for "heavy bag"; "British Champs the previous day"; "Hard commute to work".
Thanks again for the draft |

| I'll opt for a slipping chain that meant if I pushed hard I'd lose a kneecap. I think an expensive wiggle order is in on it's way. |
