Okay, I know I post this every year and some years I actually go on one. Also Kay and Roger keep offering for us to go on some of their cycle routes but I haven't doen any of them either.
This years organised rides from Bike Events are up on http://www.bike-events.com/new
Good one that don't clash with anything in the calendar are:
23rd July London to Cambridge (Eastbourne weekend and European Champs start day and Merten's Double marathon)
London to Windsor (easy ride I have done many times)
Wessex 100 (hard ride I have done a couple of times)
Loads of other rides if you aren't going to Zurich or Engadin or a couple of track races or Le Mans.
I'll fess up now and say it's unlikely I will be doing any this year. |

I did the Dunwich Dynamo last year instead of the London to Cambridge, I reckon it's a much much better event and all my cycling mates went on it. Highly recommended.
It's an overnight ride from London Fields to Dunwich beach in Suffolk, circa 120miles. Wicked wicked fun. |

If anyone wants any big wheel action this Sunday, then they are welcome to join Kay and myself, for a ride in Essex we are leading. Do note though that it will be about 100km at a goodish pace, so only really for fairly fit, experienced cyclists.
Details are:
Some Essex action: +tea at Kay's mum in Harlow. Meet Liverpool St 08.10 for 08.28 train to Sawbridgeworth arrive 09.21
(Roger Fretwell 07941-972499 roger_fretwell@yahoo.com)
See also http://centrallondonctc.org.uk for other, mostly gentler, rides. |

| What do you call a good pace? Not that I can make it anyway, I'm busy this Sunday. |

Probably about 16mph for the day, though it does depend who turns up, as we try not to leave anyone behind. |

| Nice, that would be a decent pace for 100k, and certainly for me. Not much for the serious boys though. |

| 16 meters per hour sounds just about right. |
