Yes - made it through the 39 minute qualifier on Friday and then the Mega course on Sunday morning, in 1 hour 43 mins.
I have to say it was the maddest thing I've done on a bike, there were injured riders and broken bikes at the side of the track all the way down. There is no way to write how steep or technically demanding the course is, but I rode all of it, with one exception - a bit which was about 150m straight down on snow. It was so steep and rutted, the only thing to do was sit down holding your bike at your side and slide on your back side. Even then I must have been doing 20mph. I managed to pass lots of people on the really technical rocky sections - they were standing there looking to see how they could climb down, and I rode straight through.
As I said in my earlier post, my race plan was just to get down the course in one piece, and I managed that. I would like to try again next year to see if I could shave some time by riding a bit harder between the technical bits, and trying to ride all of the snow.
There is a page of photos of me, on the link below - some are race day (black shorts), some are the qualifier (light brown shorts) and some are practice (red top). You can see my snow slide technique too !

That's it for the mountain bike, next weekend I'm racing my BMX at Milton Keynes, which is a little flatter....... |

I was going to say that looks like great fun, but I think it's a bit more serious and dangerous than that
Nice pictures, especially the bum slide...I have a feeling that people might be more interested about the race than training this afternoon! |

I managed to upload some photos my friend took of the race on my camera to show some more of the madness.
This sums up the racing - bodies everywhere at the start !
This shot is taken at the same place as the first one but facing the other way, and yes those dots on the snow are the riders.
And finally, me at the finish safe and sound, wishing I could have another go at that mental course.

| The first one looks mental - full on carnage. I hate to think what happened to anyone that went down at that point. |

Did he get a faster time than you? If so, something to consider...
"err...can you just hover over the finish line and wave my leg over it...no, not that leg, the one in the ice box. it's got my chip on it" |

Had a slightly more chilled weekend at RadBMX's MK09 weekend of old school BMX racing at Milton Keynes. Complete contrast to the Megavalanche (just as well really !).
I even managed to get through the motos, quarter's and semi's to make the finals (albeit the C final), which was a bonus.

The question is - what's next ? |

| There's also this one which we chatted about but never did anything about getting a team together. |

So that's just descending then? ...Mmmmm, where do I sign up?
In fact I can remember reading a BMX Plus way back in the mid 80's when this all started (on of the riders featured on that page (Tommy Brackens) used to race BMX for Powerlite. I've got a nice solid (read heavy) frame lying around if anyone fancies a go. |
