There were a lot of crashes in Duisberg too. Surface was rather uneven, lots of manholes and some nasty cobbled bits that I don't remember being that bad. I got my foot trapped in a hole at one point and hit the guy behind me as it released but we were both okay. All the people I saw crash I hear pads sliding but they all lost the line we were on.
Gav, you still going to be okay to race Dusseldorf or are you having to take a long break to heal up? |

Thought I had mentioned I had already cancelled Dusseldorf, maybe I didn't... actually got a wedding in Spain this weekend so luckily don't have to skate. Will take this week off to recover. Just got back from A&E - they told me to go and get the knee checked to make sure it doesn't get infected. They've redone the dressings on all the scrapes, and put iodine pads on most of them. IT'S STINGING SOOOOO BAD ARRRRRGHGHGGHGH
Gross Gerau is known for lots of falls. It's just really fast racing, with really big packs (50-70). The 330m road surface isn't bad at all (altho they re-doing it this year), but it's rectangularish so there are 4 corners, 2 of which are slightly more than 90 degress. Lends itself to spectacular wipe outs. But also to some incredible racing!! |

| I had one patch of road rash that had some necrotic tissue. Had to get it debrided, gosh that was AGONY. Think ripping pieces off using a pair of pliers. |

Yup. They did that at the track. The nurse that the Danish team had with them did it for me cos the German guys didn't do a good enough job. She used essentially a plastic nail brush. The people standing around me where freaking out more than I was.
Oooh cool pics. Look no bandages. Clearly taken sunday morning. |

Havent seen your injury, and i havent tried this myself but i recently wrote an article on honey based dressings for skin wounds - it looks intriguing and id love to see first hand how well it works if you fancy being a guinea pig. Wont bore you with the science but it sounds like it could be a more effective and less painful option. The stuffs called medihoney antibacterial wound gel and you can get it at chemists apparently. (And yes it is licensed in the UK and they use it in the NHS - but dont use the stuff in your kitchen!) |

| Sounds interesting, and might see if I can use it on the smaller ones. The knee is really deep, and I actually have to go back to the nurse to get the dressings changed every 2 days so might let them handle that one. |

| Or you could try maggots. Probably need to be special sterile maggots, though |
