I was just thinking of doing a full day of skating during Easter. maybe even stop somewhere overnight ie: go for 2 days.

Go to the countryside and skate along maybe 100 miles or so.

Would anyone keen for this?

Just trying to think of how we could do this and routes but I am not very use to these things. Maybe you could help finding route or something!

I've got a 170-odd km route out in Kent through some lovely countryside and on mostly quiet roads.  Alternatively we could just head out cross country or something?

What time do you want to start and from where?

Do you reckon I should go on my long frames?

Whatever you're comfortable with mate, but I would recommend big wheels and long frames.  There are some rough country roads out there.

That the kind ofstuff I like doing but unfortunatly... I'll be going away with the Mrs for easter break.

I would highly recomed taking the train out and skate back in, or do the other way around rather than doing a loop.
Like that you can go as far as you want and adapt depending on the roads. Most country side road are deserted at weekends and are good for skating. You might find the odd cyclist, but then they are fair targets =)

Mike, memory map is propably the best tool to get an idea of where to go mostly to check altiude profiles. You dont want too many hills on your trip. Then just print off the areas and choose your routes on the day according to tarmac/traffic/destination.

Make sure you have a long nice pub lunch Yumm!

Also, if the route you do has a chance to encounter step hills, joining with a group of cyclist is a good idea, as a cyclist can adopt a skater and help him brake/slow down. and before you all go I'm god and I can slide/T-stop/heel brake tostop on a coin... I can tell you that >15% down hills with no visibility and T-Junction at the bottom are really common in this country!

I have been wating for better days before organising something like that and be sure that I'll do longskate like that again this year as soon as I'm free. And may be this time people will join me?

You'll miss my LGFNS ...

Actually, that may be no bad thing.  I haven't even thought about a route yet.
