A new option to get to / from Northern Germany will be available from November this year. Easyjet is taking up a route London-Luton - Bremen! One flight per day is planned:
Dep. Bremen 21.20h -> Arr. London Luton 21:45h
Dep. London 18.30h -> Arr. Bremen 20.55h
Weekend times don't seem to be confirmed yet. All times are local times.
This seems to be a good alternative to Ryanair, especially for going to Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover. We might test the route for Sardinia |

Given the flight times you won't get back to Bremen same day if you fly RyanAir to Stanstead Luton is a long way outside town and I'd recommend having about 5 hours between landing in Stanstead and take off at Luton in order to collect bags, get into, across and back out of London, check in and catch your flight. So if you fly RyanAir to London you will undercut this 5 hour margin by 5 hours and 25 minutes. Oops. However if you use the single to London on the Saturday or Friday and hang with us for the weekend you can still take RyanAir back to Hamburg and get to Bremen from there.
Looks like a good way of coming over for a weekend though if the prices are okay. Not so good for us though as getting to Luton is a pain and we'd need to take Friday afternoon off to catch a flight at 18:30 |

I've realised that going back the same day would not even work with Ryanair flights. It's only 55 minutes between announced arrival of the Alghero flight and departure of the Hamburg one. Checkin closes 45 minutes prior to departure, that leaves 10 Minutes to checkin. Pretty risky even knowing that Ryanair is usually on time.
So if we were to go via London we'd have to stay overnight both days.
Where exactly is Luton located? I only know it's a good 50km out of Central London. |

| North of London... about 35min from Kings Cross on the Thameslink. Actually tho, I doubt you'd need 5 hours. I think National Express does a direct bus from Stansted to Luton. www.nationalexpress.co.uk |

| Ryanair should check your bags straight through and you'll go through a transfer area so you won't have to check in again. Best to check with them to see if it's okay to do that though. |

Can I book a connecting flight with Ryanair?
No. Ryanair is strictly a ’point-to-point’ airline. We therefore do not offer, and cannot facilitate, the transfer of passengers or their baggage to other flights, whether operated by Ryanair or other carriers. You should therefore not book onward flights with Ryanair or indeed with any other air or surface carrier. Ryanair accepts no responsibility for making connections and therefore will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising out of any failure to achieve a planned connection. |
Checked that already Not a chance. Whatever - we'll wait for Sardinia confirmation and then select some route. Regarding Frankfurt, Hamburg, or Bremen I'll select what has the best combination of price and comfort.
Bremen is definitely good for some visit to London - who knows, there might be Xmas streetskates planned in London |
