well, well, well...
who's the cheater here, using recumbents instead of "proper" bikes!?
not much to draft behind you either...
ps. I don't mind being called wheelsucker, as long as I can sprint at the end... |

Kay and myself entered at the last minute, and had a really good day out. The weather was great (for the time of year) and it was nice to see Dan and Steeve out, as well as other friends.
The outward trip was a blast, with the wind raging behind us. It was easy to feel like you were a cycling god, as the miles whipped by. At Saffron Walden we turned around, and headed back into the wind. Now we once again felt very ordinary as the wind reduced us to a steady crawl. Luckily we found a big fellow to shelter behind at this point, until we reached the penultimate control, in a village hall with lashings of cake and tea. The final stretch was less windy, but we had a little shower to remind us that winter was coming, before reaching the end and more tea and cakes. We even managed to follow the instructions at the end through numerous Stevenage cycle tracks and alleys, without getting lost - a first for us!
For anyone from Stevenage CTC reading this, a big thankyou to the team there and the helpers along the way, for putting on another excellent edition of this event. |
