They are in Ostend (Zandvoorde) this year and run from Tuesday 28th with the opening ceremony with track racing starting on Wednesday 29th for 4 days then a day off on Monday 3rd with road races starting on 4th to 7th then Marathon on the 8th.
Does anyone fancy popping over for the middle weekend to watch some top quality skating and to cheer on our club mates and other countrymen?
It's very easy to get to by car if someone has one. Either Ramsgate, direct to Ostend or Dover-Dunkirk. Dover-Calais if no car and ride bikes the rest of the way there and back along the coast. |

How are you planning on going? Chunnel or ferry. |

| Fine with any of those. Can even marshal LFNS if we take the 1:20. Don't even need to take time off work. Book a later one coming back and they'll pile us onto any of the earlier ones if there's space. |

The Oudenburg one is the closest to the track and there are no major roads to skate on between the two so that's probably favourite.

Saw everything listed above for the two days and my god there are some good skaters out there. I don't feel we are the worst nation in track speed skating having seen that but it's a pretty close thing. Not to take stuff away from our guys but without being able to train with these guys and have access to what they have on a daily basis, what chance do we have. Skating as moved on a long way since we were up there with the other nations battling for the podium places. Alas it as not moved on as much here. All credit to everyone for trying to progress the sport.
541 photos currently coming off my memory card to be sorted, cropped and chopped. Too many for the gallery but I'll put up a select few and I'll put everything on Flickr and post a link. |
