Hi all,
the European Masters Marathon will be on the weekend of 13th June, in a very nice location on the Baltic sea, just about one hour north of Hamburg! Link is http://www.roll-and-skate.de/ not in English yet.
Registration fee is 35 Euros until end of the month, night in the local hotel 78 Euros. They seem to have organized a big event with an additional half marathon and soccer worlds on a big screen on the beach, party etc. I have skates the course in previous years and it is really nice, not too easy with some rolling hills, but also not dangerous.
Michi and I are planning to be there - for watching, possibly skating some race as well.
Anybody up for this?

Thanks Merten,
Do you know what the rules are this year, i.e. do you have to skate in your age group only or are you free to skate with similiar paced skaters in a different age group.

If you are racing the masters you must race with your group. Having said that I'm sure there will be plenty of cheating, or in your case dropping off the seriously fast pack and tagging on to some slower people. Unless you are 40 this year or earlier in which case you might have a chance in the M40s for a good while.
Theoreticallty the front packs from each age/gender should be monitored for interlopers but after that it is usually a free for all as that is geenrally out of the medal positions. |
