Kay and I are probably going to the Rhein-Marathon in Düsseldorf on 8th May.

Its easy to get to; the course looks good, and Düsseldorf is a great city. And there are lots of great skate routes in the area if you want to do more skating. Its also where I first got into skating, which gives me a special reason to do this marathon.

I don't think anybody here did this marathon last year, but any feedback would be appreciated.

If anyone has any more links to stick on this page just post them and I'll clean up the thread. eg Engadin, St Gallen, or the Düsseldorf one, anything else in France. World inline cup calendar for 2005 isn't up yet so I anticpiate the top post will get a lot fatter by January.

The link for Duesseldorf is http://www.duesseldorf-marathon.de

Another (ultra-)marathon that I am considering for next year is the 100km Bornholm Rundt on 14 Aug 2005, though actually getting there looks to be a bit of a pain.

There's also a marathon in Bologna that was being promoted by some of the Italian guys at the LIM.

09.04.2005 bis 10.04.2005
Bologna - Internationale Speedskating Trophy & Marathon

See www.bononiaskating.com

I am actually quite tempted by the thought of skating somewhere vaguely Southern in the early season.

If you were planning to visit the town and its region (not driving obviously), then it might the time. It's cheap to go to, cheap to eat, beer is second to none and people friendly.

It's a bit short notice for this year We should go there and party next year no ?

Sounds interesting. You might find the full marathon standard rather high.

The bologna one is a full on international competition weekend. They have track races all of the Sat. I think. Elisa was trying to get me to go last year.

Definitely high level of competition for the track stuff, but if I can I want to make it this year.

If you can find your way through their rather horrible website it seems that there is a 'Competitive Programme' and a 'Fitness Programme'. I guess we would be doing the latter, which consists of a half marathon on the Sunday morning and Roller Cross?? in the afternoon.

So long as Roller Cross isn't Bladercross then it might be harmless. Since it is Bonn weekend and I want to get a full marathon in before Hamburg, I'll probably be going there again despite the misery of it this year.

No I didn't. I asked a bit further down for people to post links so I can put them in the first port.

Another event is the European Championships in Jüterbog 31/07 - 1/08

http://www.speedskateem.com/.

There was some talk after the Berlin marathon of organising a weekend trip to the Flaeming Runde, which Jüterbog is part of, so maybe an idea to have a training/spectating trip? Maybe some people from the team will be taking part?
