I'm sad to say that I've had to pull out from this ride (too many things to do at home this w/e). There's still the next one... Smile Enjoy you lot!

How's everyone feeling about Friday night. I think if it's not wet, it's really going to be very cold. I'm not sure what to wear or if I have all the appropriate clothing. I have plenty of layers, but very few cycle specific ones. Anyone advise me?

I'm going for:

Long sleeve base layer
Breathable t-shirt
Gillet
Wind-proof / water resistant jacket
Arm warmers
Leg warmers
Quality socks
Mavic MTB shoes
Doubled up gloves
Woolly hat
edit: Shorts!

May also carry some spare gear in a pannier.

Reckon I'll wear simlar layers as BigSteev, substituting a softshell for a windproof gilet and some armwarmers.

Just looked at trains for the return...no direct train from Whitstable, we'll have to change at Faversham to go to Victoria or St Pancras...probably explains the groupsaver chit chat on the cc forum.

Think light jacket without sleeves Smile  Keeps body / chest warm, especially when windy.

The lengths people will go to to avoid calling a bodywarmer a bodywarmer, or tank top for that matter.

Thanks Ed.

Unless you have winter shoes.... overshoes are a real bonus as road or mtb let in some serious amounts of cold air Shocked

With any luck the rain will not get us until the latter parts of the ride, so the cold will be the major factor although I think I will be bringing my overtrousers in case!

Re trains, Faversham is only 8.5 miles from Whitstable so I reckon its a better bet to cycle there and get direct trains to Victoria or St Pancras...massively cheaper as well

I don't have winter, road or mtb shoes. I don't have those overshoes things either. I had an idea I may tape over the tops of my trainer with silver duck tape to keep out the wind.
