I think my biggest worry, apart from car/hgv interaction is dropping off, so I'm planning on up rather than down liquids. |

| I hear a late entry has swelled the skating numbers by two more. Riz and Hans. So currently 9 of us. |

This is going to be fun. Got new tyres, but the front one is coming off again, it's like riding on glass and nearly came off twice this morning.
Also, my front mech has stopped moving the chain onto the large ring. I've tried tensioning the cable with the adjuster with no luck. Can anybody technically minded give advice. I'm assuming it's the screws that need fidling with. |

I've gone for new tyres, a bigger 28mm, feels very different, I've also hit front mech issues after changing my bottom bracket. May not be the best person to talk to here, as I've still not got it 100% yet, but the thing didn't chuck it's chain on the ride home last night so that is "better"
3 things that control front shifting, two "stop" screws and cable tension. Not too sure I have it right myself, but you can check what is limiting your the top movement, if you pull the cable away from the downtube while the leaver is set to big ring and the mech moves, it's cable tension, and if it doesn't move its the limit screw.
If the limit screws are labled then I think it's the H one (if it's H and L) losening the screw will give you more mech movement. |

There are 2 screws which limit movement to stop it moving beyond each of the rings. 1 will stop it going inside of the small ring, the other stops it going outside the large ring. Adjust these first. |

| Also if you google search for the particular type of mech you are using, you should be able to find the installation manual on the manufacturers site which will have set-up instructions. |

| Cheers, will fettle when I get home. I'll get a spare cable as well 'cos the last time this happened the cable snapped about a day later. |

back, and got up after a long-ish snooze. I had fun, got a bit cold, and a bit tired but the bike ran okay and I didn't need anything I didn't have. I think I'll need to consider the gearing if I do that route again, I'm sure I never use the bottom few but find myself at the top far too much.
The Tesco's lights were enough, perhaps even more than required as I only ever used one at a time
Impressions are still a little blurred, the group dynamic is very similar to skating, so it's easier to chat with the person you are near rather than go and try and find someone specific. Most of the time it was dead easy to ride in the bunch and just spin along, chatting when you fancy it, wondering at the low misty light of dawn or gawping at the lovely villages of Sussex otherwise. There were some amazing sweeping lanes that were a giggle flying down with Big, apart from Ditchling I don't think there was much if any road I didn't enjoy.
Thanks to Simon, Tony and all the cyclists who won't read this, and Dan and Tanya for chucking it up here and dealing with the gumbie questions. Huge fun was had by all... |

| I had fun too, well up to the point when I discovered that my body doesn't really function terribly well in the middle of the night! Very glad I did it though, specially Ditchling. But won't do it again I don't think. |

This note on the Giro has put our downhill speed into perspective;
| Quote: |
| Levi Leipheimer twittered on yesterday's stage: "We had a fast downhill in the middle of the stage and we were comparing top speeds, heard JJ Haedo hit 117kph!! That's 72.7mph to be exact. |
Now that's scary! |
