More of a query.

Obviously technique is the all important factor in (almost?) every sport.

but how much mechanical advantage is there in having longer frames and bigger wheels.

I noticed the other day switching between my XMax 3 and my shiny (see bling!) speed skates that I felt I was basically at my limit in the XMax, but there was plenty left i the spped skates.

How much quicker are people in longer frames with bigger (or not) wheels?
