| Thought about it as it fill the gap between now and Sardinia but it also happens to be London Film Festival time so I can't. |

If no other LSST members are going you can always team up with the dutch skaters from inline-skate.nl. I know they would like it!
You can post in this thread (posting in english is no problem!):

Have a good race and lots of fun in Frankfurt!
Cheers,
Andy. |

| Thanks Andy, I might get in touch with them. Not had a chance to do much more skating since Berlin though ! It will still be fun though and hopefully I won't crash badly like last year. |

Hi!
I'm a Londoner living near Bonn in Germany and I'll be
skating in Frankfurt. I'm not sure how sensible this is, as
I'm going to have a shoulder operation two weeks before
Frankfurt. I'll just have to make sure I don't fall.
After Berlin I always feel waiting seven months before the
next marathon is just way too long, so I always end up as
a late entrant at the higher registration fee!
I did an okayish 1:23 in Berlin (age 51) and don't want to
waste all that good 2005 training, so if my left shoulder doesn't
hurt too much I'll be on the start line in my black Bad Duffys
speed suit. I look like a bald older version of Hans Brown -
but not as fast as that turbo charged wizard on wheels.
So, do say hello if you spot me as you fly past me!
I'll be on tired legs as Frankfurt will be number 8 this year.
See you there!

| Hey Andrew! Good to see you again, even if only online this year. How is the shoulder? |

Well, the lack of training certainly showed, with a time 5 mins slower than Berlin !! I think I got out skating about 7 times in the month between them !
Anyway, the weather was great - coolish, but sunny during the marathon. It started out with dew on the ground, but the centre of the road was dry throughout; it was just the edges that were damp.
I started off well, but there were no pacelines to be seen for a while - must try and push up ahead at the start ! Eventually I joined a paceline for a while, then found a slightly faster one and made the switch. I stuck with this up until the halfway mark. Then somehow ???, I managed to get in a slow one - way to slow ! I kept thinking about jumping off, as there was a faster paceline just 100m ahead. But, I hesitated too long and got stuck there ! By the time I did jump ahead, the faster paceline was maybe 1/2 mile ahead. I then knackered myself out on one of the shallow, but long hills on my own. This was a bad tactic, so I ended up losing maybe 7-8 minutes on what I could have finished at.
But, nonetheless, I was pretty happy considering how little training I had done. I look forward to a summer full of marathons next year and hopefully I'll get some training in, as I'll be in the UK all summer !!
Well done Andrew, a great time for the course. What did you think ? THere were some quite rough sections, especially combined with some tricky tramline crossings !
