Kay and I are going to Austria for a long weekend of cross-country skating at the end of February, and are proposing to take part in our first cross-country marathon at the same time.
The Ganghofer marathon takes place in the Leutasch valley, which we have already visited many times. Together with the neighbouring Seefeld valley there is a large network of high quality cross-country tracks. (Seefeld has been the venue for many World Cup events and the Olympics.)
Skating on skis is quite a similar action to inline skating, so the two sports are quite complementary.
Our current plan:
Fly to Munich Thursday 24th February evening
Hotel Munich
Early (8:30) train to Seefeld
Ski from 12:00 to 5:00
Hotel Seefeld for 4 nights
Tue 1st March Ski to 16:00
Back to hotel, shower and change
Train from Seefeld to Munich airport at 17:15
Flight from Munich to London
If anyone would like to join us, the marathon is not compulsory, then they are very welcome. |

We had a really good weekend's skiing despite Kay taking a tumble early on and injuring her shoulder a bit.
I skated my first marathon of the year - on snow! Hopefully I will manage a faster time than 3:21 when it comes time to do a marathon on inlines.
