Got an email about registration opening today. I think it rather silly of me but I've entered the Mega. Moving up to big distances anyway this year, but a week before the 111 means I'll be doing nothing in the week between except hydrating and carb loading and hopefully be recovered enought for that.
Hopefully there are a few more mad fools in the club that would like to skate with me on this one so it isn't a huge struggle. It'll take about 4 hours skating at a steady pace but not racing until the last lap (if we can)
It will be imperative that anyone skating together can maintain the same pace inside their efficiency comfort zone and everyone does a turn at the front. Hope it's no windier than last year. I would be surprised if we could get calm air there. |

| That's me signed up for the Mega too - I vote for a 1 lap race after 25 laps also! I did a bike race at Goodwood once where it was sunny with no wind - must have been about 5 years ago! |

I just registered yesterday for the normal marathon race
Now that I have my lovely new babies I want to get as close as I can to 1:45 ... I think 1:30 is a little bit too ambitious after my first ever 2:04 from last year |

Don't count on it. I took 35 minutes off my goodwood time between 2005 and 2006 (and then didn't get any faster at all in 07). Marty took 40 minutes off his 06 time in 07.
It's a good course for dramatic improvements ;-) |

Hopefully, there's a few of you doing it, because 101 km in 4 hrs with only a few of you would be good going. Good luck - especially after the 2.5 hrs mark.

Shhh. I'm trying to get some more to come along.
Seriously though 4h20 is an average lap time of 10 minutes. Will need refuelling to do that many laps and it would be nice to have a some club members helping with the lap counts and handing out carbo bars and swapping water bottles with electrolyte for those of us mad enough to do this and not forgetting cheering us on.
For the record Linda, Tom and I were cruising round in high 8s last year so dropping 1 min/lap, if the conditions are right, should be doable, I wasn't particularly racing last year and had downed a couple of bottles of wine the night before. However, who knows what it will be like on the day. We need a co-operative line of 6 to get those sorts of times. If I have to do it solo then it is going to really hurt. So come on, more entries please. |

I'm tempted. Who else would be though? Not sure I like the idea of 26 laps of just me and Rick (no offence Rick).
I know Monty Dog has entered too, but apparently he felt obliged as it was his idea to do a stupidly long distance as well. |

Sorry Guys, I'm not even doing the 26.2 as it's my sister's 80th birthday and there is a three line whip on attendance |

| That's cool Rick - though 101 km just one week before the 111 KM may not be the best preparation for the 111 KM - unless your goal is purely to complete both (or including the A to A, all three) big races. The 111 is a fantastic course, but a fairly challanging one to do in a reasonable time - especially for the bigger skaters - with all those hills. |

| Was never planning on doing anything amazing on 111. It's just training for the A2A and it's all just testing myself for Le Mans 09. If I enjoy the 111 I may do it again next year with a potential target of doing better than this year but was planning on being mostly retired by that point and am only going to do races I enjoy. |

That's me registered for the full marathon. In my opinion, this was by far the best organised and most fun UK race last year, so hopefully, there will be another big turnout.
