Thanks for the update Barrie.

Sparky, if you're reading this, I wish you a speedy recovery.

It was so unfortunate as I really believe you would have been on for a top 10 position.

Get well soon!

Sparky, I heard of you falling, but then I didn't know the full story and didn't read the thread on Serp Road...

It's a big shame it happened to you again, best wishes and get well soon (sorry but I am not sending you kisses as the Camberley girls did Wink )

Just been looking at the lap times. Apart from them all being fast this year (lack of wind???) the skater that impressed me the most is Mariyo. Same lap time as the front pack for the first lap and same as Fred, Peter and Glenn for the second lap. Nice work.

For comparison, 14:21 for 7.74km is way above the British record pace for 5km on the road in your age category. That record for pupils and cadets stands at 10:01 although that isn't drafting adults. It is also a similar pace to the cadets track 5km record which stands at 9:20. I think you are still a Pupil this year (???) and the 5km track record for pupils is 12:13.4 and you were far in excess of that.

Unfortunately you can't claim a record for this race but you are fully capable of taking the record given the right race, so that's outstanding. Looking forward to the track champs and next year's LIM even more now. Super Mariyo for the titles!

You rather surprised me there Mario, I was just wondering how much longer I could hold on to the Belotti pace when I looked back to find you there. Should have tried to keep you on for both laps but I couldn't sustain that and seeing a second line form I thought we (okay I) would do better long term in something a bit more do-able.

The gap between 1 and 2 must have been huuuge.

Oh yes, and having finished, she stuck with our line for quiet a while longer, you know, for fun...

See the lap times graph - lap 3 was where I stopped (well, slowed to strolling pace)  and waited for the second line

Ditto, but earlier than Dan:

I was going to do "a Tanya" and sit on the wall until I could see the next line, but just rolled instead.

In hindsight, I should have dropped off earlier (and maybe would have been able to pull harder when taking my turn at the front in the second pack), but truth be told, I didn't notice the split.
