Event : Goodwood Roller Marathon
Date : 9th August 2009
Website : http://www.goodwoodmarathon.co.uk/
Camberley Skaters are proud to announce the date for Goodwood Roller Marathon 2009. Please put 9th August 2009 in your diary.
Goodwood Roller Marathon is a charity race around the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Which ever race you choose to enter you do not have to complete all the laps so why not set yourself a challenge, you may do more than you think! All skaters are welcome no matter what the level or style. It is a great day out and a perfect start if you are new to marathons. There is microchip timing of the laps as well as a medal for you to take home and keep. More details on the website.
This year we are changing the Mega race to a Dual race, yes a double marathon for all those interested at 22 laps (53.24miles or 85.68km). Of course we also have the Full Marathon (11 laps, 26.62 miles, 42.84 km), the Midi (5 laps, 12.10 miles, 19.47 km) and the Mini (2 laps, 4.84 miles, 7.74km).
As we ramp up to the event posters & forms will be available and advanced registration will open. To stay up to date with the latest news please sign up to the mailing list or follow us on your favourite social network.
See you all there. |

thats a real shame that you are reducing the 100k race to 85k, but i guess it this helps to significantly reduce the organizational burden for the race! Can't wait for the race though
it was super last year!!! |

To be totally honest it doesn't change the organising that much at all as we are replacing one with the other. We were operating more on feedback from last year.
Only 16 people entered last year and of that only 5 people managed to complete it in the 5 hour time limit. Even more annoying was that there were people on that track that could have perhaps done it if they had more time. Unfortunately it's already a long day for us (we start at 6am to sweep the track by hand) and we get kicked out an hour after we finish by the track so the only option really was to reduce the distance a little, it's only by 4 laps and it's still a double marathon so we hope that it will attract more people to come and join the fun |

A quick reminder that discounted registration fees end this Sunday (28th June) as it will be six weeks until the Goodwood Roller Marathon 2009, doesn't time fly! If you haven't already please register and pay before this date to receive the cheaper rate. |

Is anyone else taking the train to Chichester and catching a cab there?
Stef and I may be taking the 8:17 or 9:17 from Victoria.
At Chichester, are there cabs usually waiting by the station or do we have to book them in advance? |

Ben, I need to get there with my girlfriend somehow, so I'd be happy to share a cab.
Dunno about their availability, though.
Let me know which train you think you'll get, I don't think it makes much difference to us... |

We are going down on the train, but probably taking bikes to cycle over to Goodwood.
As far as I recall there are taxis at Chichester, so should not be a problem to get one on the day.
SW Trains currently have a promotion on so return tickets are only 10 pounds. |

I think it is much cheaper if we can go by group, and get a group saver ticket. it would be 4 people for the price of 2.
We have been doing the same for the past 2 years.
And I can confirm that you can get a cab from outside the station.
Ben, keep hold of the contact no. when you get on the cab from station to the track. It is hard to get a cab back from the track to station.
Edit: Check the website, the advance tix seems to be slightly cheaper. |

| Sorry, I was wrong about the train fares - Chichester is not on a SW trains line, so the special fare does not apply. Group saver is cheapest remaining option. |
