Hi guys,
Just wanted to signal that my friend and colleague (Kate), who is a personal trainer at Ambition Fitness Clinic near Victoria station, got her brand new bike stolen today.
It is a Specialized Allez Sport 18 Road with White frame AND white saddle (£600). It also had a puncture repair kit underneith the saddle. She got it on Saturday, nothing really special to differenciate from others, but if you know of any website I can leave a thread, that would be appreciated.
We have the guy on CCTV camera coming by bike, taking hers and leaving the one he came with against mine!!
If anybody can help, thank you!!!! |

For a moment I thought it was Ben's or yours...still bad nonetheless!
Try posting on cyclechat and bikeradar forums, but I don't hold much hope |

Is it worth mentioning the frame size and whether it's a double or triple chain ring? ( I think they're available with either ).
But even if you find one/it, how can it be proved to be hers?
/me goes off to personalise his bike... |

Have a look at Gumtree.
Coincidentally, I ready tonight in our local rag about a new brigade patrolling London fighting bike theft. Info from www.tfl.gov.uk/avoidbiketheft (or something approaching, I'm typing from memory). |

It'll be the compact. 18 = compact, 27 = triple, double = full size double.
Looking at the catalogue shots it looks like a black saddle is standard. |

Someone at work mentioned to me that you can get a chip that is droped in the frame and is scannable rather like the ones in animals. You can then register it with the Police, so that you can prove its yours.
It ain't gonna help this time but might be worth investigating for the future.
Does it ring any bells, anyone know more? |

I wonder what the retrieval rate is though?
How many/what proportion of stolen bikes are found but unidentified?
Though at £13 or so, perhaps it's worth a punt anyway. |

I think its like car alames, in that when thay first came out people would take the chance thay were not fited and try and take the car.
So once most bikes have these the police will check more often (like down brick lane).
It would be very good if all new bikes and one fitted. |
