No way.... that really sucks. I had just started to like Easyjet, maybe I should reconsider, this is really not what a professional airline should do.

Well is was dry and pretty fast. Mainly because it was rather downwind for a lot of it and the wind was rather strong. Hurt quite a bit when you lead the line upwind but there wasnät much of that in the first half. We skated the first 18km in 30min dead.

Race was won by Markus Pape from Zepto in 1:07:19 with Wayne Begg getting the same time in 2nd.

Dan was 29th in 1:17:06
Merten was 46th in 1:24:11
I was 48th also in 1:24:11
Rich was somwhere near in 1:24:26
Michi finished in a very small girls field in 1:40:06

Quite good fun but pretty boring in the line when we were going upwind. Wasnät tired at the end and had a good sprint and kicked Merten's bum but he started behind me in fractionaly more time than I finished in front of him so he pipped me. Shouldn't have raised me hands at the finish but I was 8mins faster than ever before and couldn't resist it.  Very Happy

Well, racing for me was in some way ok and in another way not too good.
First of all: I did not fall so I realised my first goal  Wink
Then I am not really happy with my time 'cause I did the first half marathon in 40 minutesand thouht it would be a good race. Afterwards the head-wind stated. I was in a pack with only one other woman and racing in a "two-head" paceline against the wind was quite tough. We hopped on another paceline that turned out too slow for us.
Some time later we found another paceline that went past and we hopped on there. But the good time was lost.
The last 3 km I was skating alone with headwind again 'cause I lost the main pack and the other woman behind me could not go on.

For the conditions it was a good race. And the first marathon in my Junker's. This was really good and I am happy about that.

Will try for a better time next race... Smile

I just do the necessary work you know Razz

Yeah, we had soooo much luck with the weather. It had rained all night, but stopped in time to have an almost dry course. And it started raining again just when the last skater crossed the line!

I seem to make a habit out of losing much at the start, so more work is needed here. Then gun went off pretty unexpected for me, was stuck in traffic once more, but managed to sprint up to the line which formed with Rich and Rick. Nearly blew on the way there, so it took me quite a bit to recover. The second half got slower and slower, and although I knew the course I was expecting another turn before the finish straight, hmm...

Well, I'm okay with the result given the conditions. I do not feel as tired as I did in other races, so I could probably have done just a bit more. Maybe we should have tried a breakaway at some point, but three others who tried were caught up by our line in the end. Bit annoyed because I had hoped to get this 1:20 marathon time before Le Mans Wink

Sorry that we did not meet up again with you guys, but we waited some ages for the next bus and then took off home with Mareike, who was rather tired after skating her first ever marathon in 2:01. I promise to improve on this next time!

A fantastic result! Some PB's, another bit of race experience gained. Sounds very lucky with the weather though (OK, apart from the wind).

And Michi - 1st marathon in your Junkers without stacking? Looks like you've cracked it girl, this is your season. The only way is up Smile
