Alan Moore gave me some stuff on Sunday about putting on an event at Hog Hill. It would be on the flat loop as, rumour has it, the hilly part would be dangerous to race on with skates. The flat loop is 1km
Details of the event are in outline at the moment and he would like suggestions as to what sort of thing to run there. I quite like the idea of a number of races over the day. Including something like a 45min + 3 laps. Maybe a 1km.
Another idea might be to run similar events to international road course races like the Euros. We don't have a road championship in this country any more and it might be a suitable venue to put one on in the future.
Other things I have participated in in the past are team time trials. Teams of max 4 or 5 with the first 3 over the line to count.
Maybe a mini relay like the 24 minute skate.
I think he has the circuit for 4 hours on that date.
Post any ideas here and I'll get Alan and Debbie to have a look at the thread. |

| That looks like a great track. I just wish that there was something nice that wasn't being dug up nearer Reading... |

| Thinking it might be good to have this as an Open event so it is not restricted to FISS members. Another chance for non speed skaters to have a go and for us to showcase what it is about. Also means SWF can make a bit more money. |

It is a great surface to skate on - this was one of the venues Gill and I checked out when we were looking for alternatives to Hillingdon for LIM.
The hill, under racing conditions, would be a challenge for all but the most experienced skaters so I think it is probably a good idea to stick with the bottom loop. |

Sounds good, a bit more variety in the UK competition scene will be of great benefit.
What's the cost hiring the venue? |

| Don't know the cost. I imagine you can pop over there and pay & play like we used to at Lea Valley some times. I think Alan has booked a 4 hour slot. I think he thought it was pretty cheap but we didn't do a comparison with Hillingdon because when he asked me what that cost I said it was charged per participating racer rather than per hour. |

The cost for 4hours is £95.
But you can turn up and pay to use it with others on the track for -
Full Road Circuit = £3.60
Part of road circuit (north or south when other part is booked out) = £1.80 |
