| White Stars are OK in the wet on most surfaces. Have not yet tried the clear ones, but Michi said something similar (funnily she had trouble in other places...) So maybe even mix whites and clears if posiible? |

I never tried starwheels in the wet, I'm just going on from one of Rick post. If Merten say they are fine, then I'm Happy!
I'll just swap with my new club provided classics bearing.
Anyway, lets all chant 'IT WILL NOT RAIN' |

Hold - I said they're OK. There is better rain wheels out there. I've now bought some slightly used Matter XG on ebay and they are deifnitely much grippier than the Stars.
And whatever wheels you use in the wet: Take care! Every surface might suddently change grip and turn perfect pushes into sliding. Watch out for dirt, sand, leaves, all these sorts of things. And slow down when approaching turns, watch out for others that don't. I remember us narrowly avoiding several people who tried to overtake on the inner side of the turn and then just zoomed straigt across the street, right before and behind us, in a tight turn in Hamburg last Autumn.
Maybe read up on some rain skating tips:
http://www.londonskaters.com/how-to-skate-in-the-rain.htm
http://www.skatelog.com/how/rain/
Now I'll stop whining and cross my fingers for a nice and sunny Sunday - please do the same for our Sebby workshop tomorrow |

Have a great time, folks. Good luck with the airlines, weather, surfaces - oh, and rather a lot of kilometres.
Remember to tell us all about it. |

Phew, thought it was just me who has ill-prepared for this one! Still, we'll scope it out at the weekend and we'll have the inside info for next year
Just wanted to add - when the results come in, Hans will not have got the best LSST time - just wanted to remind you he's skating with me. And he's not even paying me to say this. |

So the big questions are;
Did your bags/skates all turn up?
What km did DanB stack at?
You'll be glad to know it stayed dry for the Tatum leg of the Brit Champs. |

Somewhere past the 60 marker, actually. For me, the worst race I've had all year, I'd say. Which is a shame, as I was feeling pretty positive about it up until about ... well, the start.
Went out on a line that would have been about the right pace for a marathon, lost it and died completely at about the 45-50k mark after foolishly deciding to attack on an uphill, grabbed an energy drink at 50 and began to feel more normal, hit the guy in front and fell over him when he fell somewhere shortly after 60. With a faceful of road and a mouthful of teeth (I exaggerate: actually only one and a half teeth came out, and the half wasn't even a real tooth - though there's another one which I think may have been loosened), I decided I'd had enough.
Swiss hospitals are pretty good, though. And didn't charge me for stitching my chin.
I smart all over. Metaphorically and literally. Should have eaten more and sooner. I could kick myself, if only my knees worked a bit better. |

Sounds like a dangerous race. One death and Dan breaks his teath twice in one year. Your dentist will not be impressed. Advise you invest in gumshield technology.
I wonder if they will start to insist on medical certs after someone died in the race? Did he die as a result of complications from a crsh or did he collapse? If the latter, was he a good racer who may have taken something he shouldn't (EPO, etc), someone who just wasn't fit enough or had an someone with an unknown heart condition? |
