Plyometrics is often mentioned as a key dry-land training method, so I thought that some of you may be interested in an introductory course being run by the Serpentine Running Club, at the Paddington Track.
The details:
| Quote: |
We'd like to offer an “Introduction to Plyometrics” session here at Paddington on
Friday, 13 April. Andy Harrison will take the lead and I'll be there to support him.
The session will last about 45 minutes. We aim to get under way at 6.30pm. After a
15 minute warm up, there will be 15 minutes of plyometric exercises followed by 15 minutes of sprint and quickness drills.
These jumping, bounding and hopping exercises are a well-established way of enhancing athletic performance. They will assist you to improve your speed, strength and running economy, helping you to shave seconds, or more, off your PBs.
You're all welcome to come along and if the session is a success, we'll be looking to repeat this type of session on a continuing basis.
If you'd like more information please email Andy on bluntandy@hotmail.co.uk

| Roger - do you know if there is a cost to do the session? Are you going? I think it would be cool if a few of us went - just to expand the horizons with another sport. |

Glenn, sorry for not replying before but I was away last week.
The session is being repeated this Friday at Paddington Recreation Ground, Maida Vale. There is a nominal charge for use of the track. I won't be going as my knees are too fragile for plyometrics. |

No worries Roger - actually went last week - good, interesting and well organised session (no charge) - but obviously very running specific - may go again as it was easy to get to, good group and very good learning experience (albeit for a different sport). I understand this week will be a little more applicable to skating. Hope your knees get better. Also the guy leading the group does a session on his turbo trainer afterwards - but I don't have one of those.
