You will definitely see the German team brach skating around. It's not difficult to spot us, just look out for skates with huge blue dressings like a sandwich man |

I also did the race and came in about 1.34 (10th in my age group). Would have been better - but I fell and lost my group half way through and had to wait quite a while for the next group.
A real shame as I was skating comfortably in a group of about 15 alternating between position 1 and 4 in the line (as we were taught by Barry P to do). Very enjoyable, well organised race though and great to see some of the Germans from the Sadinia.
A hilly course so times were a little slower than usual. Actually if anyone is considering doing this race next year - Richmond would be very good preparation. |

Sorry Glenn, Brilliant result - pity about the fall.
I did a search on verein for London and it brought up the results I listed - but it doesn't show a team against your name |

Richmond is ALWAYS good preparation
The Experts guys and girls kicked ass. Michael came in 1st, Olli and Markus 6th and 7th. The girls took top 4!! |

480 male finishers. I don't feel so bad now so just outside the top third. In which case I may well go back next year and do it right. But it was a horrible race. Many factors as to why I found it hard:
Knees still tired and hurting after skating my legs off the previous weekend.
Dehydrated from the overnight when I couldn't retain any water.
The expectation of a wet race meant I put in some cheap bearings I found th day before in Kaufhoff. K2 ABEC5s 10€. I didn't want to ruin my race bearings on a race I didn't know or expect to do well in.
Crappy start block don't think they took my time into account turned out to be the right one for the way I was feeling though.
Demotivated and not feeling great planning on taking it as a scenic tour anyway.
The hills! Actually they weren't that bad but I didn't have a lot of roll with the sticky bearings and I used a lot more strides than I normally would have in the climbs.
I was so tired I actually had a hypo just before I finished the race. I could barely see where I was going my vision was so shot. Took immediate remedial action by scoffing plenty of bananas and drinking some sweet stuff and I was okay but still had a shocking headache from that and the dehydration. Alan and I bought a few litres of sports drinks before leaving the UK and I sipped on those for a couple of hours until I felt better. After a pretty large meal I felt fine in every way.
On a funnier note. Merten now has the slowest marathon record 7h30m. I Guess you didn't cross the line after the marathon but did after the 10k?
Met up with Stephan, Merten, Mareike, Michi and Carla to sort out Le Mans stuff and then went home. Hope the 10k was dry for you guys.
Positives from the weekend. Alan's knee held out. I have completed 4 out of 4 and met loads of people I have met before. We almost started out with a "Team Sardine" line at the beginning the Annette, Alan, Myself, Markus, Martin, Rainer, Holger all in the same little bit at the start. Plenty of people to socialise with at the end. |

Just read the Rennes reports, great results everyone.
We were lucky with the weather, it stayed dry and really quite pleasant, with some wind.
Like Rick I was really disappointed with my race but feel a bit better having seen the overall results. I started well and got on a reasonable pace line, that didn't feel too fast, but after about 18K I just ran out of steam and went backwards from then on, but as Sol said about Rennes it's another racing and learning experience. Hope to go forward for the rest of the season. |

Yeah, it was dry and really sunny. So the 10k were really fun, skating as a sandwich girl Even had the chace to help the last girls struggling up the hills by pushing them a bit.
For me it was a great event with loads of fun - I think we will post some pics later. |

Come on, somebody get a slower official time than me And a slower average for the last 2k...
40 km 2:33:15
Ziel 7:30:05
I had removed the chip too late and carried it in a pocket. As we were double-booked for marathon and 10k this might have re-registered it. I have a 40k split, no times before that. And I have the PDF certificate as proof We emailed the timing guys to get that removed.
But our special project was awesome fun, I'll have a few pictures to share later this week. Might be something to repeat next year. Thanks for crossing fingers for a dry 10k, it worked
