We are going to be holding a race meeting at Tatem on the 15th May! This is a FISS club meeting, so there should be a whole crowd of people from all over - other teams, spectators, etc.

If you feel like coming along for a day in the sun (it will be sunny), feel free. Directions are on the Training Locations page of the site, or just ask one of the team. There will be races in the following categories:

Category 1 - 3km & 5km
Cat 2 - 1.5km & 5km
Cat 3 - 1km & 3km
Cat 4 - 500m & 1.5km
Cat 5 - 500m & 1km
Rat Races
Cat 1 & 2 - 10km Points
Cat 3 - 3km Devils
Cat 4 & 5 - 3km Devils

Rat Races are for non-licensed skaters, ie. anyone who turns up, and medals are given out Smile

The day starts at 1pm and will be finished up around 5 or so, there will be snacks & drinks available as well.

ps. Team Members see post in Members section, some stuff needs to be organised.

Costs are one price for all races
Cat 1 £9
Cat 2 £8
Cat 3 £7
Cat 4 £6
Cat 5 £5

Normally send booking forms to me (club address) by 1st May. I will be out of the country from 6th May until after the event so late entries should be on the day or to Farhana who is race organiser for the event.

Don't forget your race numbers or enough safety pins to put them on.

I would quite like to have a bash at this, apart from helmet and skates, what else would I need.

If you want to race as a licensed skater (compete against some of the really quick fellas) you will need to join FISS on the day (Rick/Gav will put me straight on this)....

For the rat races just turn up with skates, a helmet and cash for the race (£2) but the quality of the field will be determined on the day.

The advantage of the FISS card (licensed skater) is you wont need a doctors note for Le Mans.

I think it might be possible to get a day license, so that you could actually race properly in the categories. Have emailed to ask.

Sorry Sparky, you could only race in Rat Races on the day unless you are a FISS member. (or how's that italian accent of yours? Wink )

FISS rules

1.      Only skaters who are members of recognised national federations may compete in FISS sanctioned events. In the period where the skater is not a FISS member, he/she must have, and show upon request, written permission from a recognised national federation before he/she is permitted to compete.

2.      Skaters registered with national federations other than FISS may compete in Club or FISS open competitions a maximum number of 3 times in any one season without becoming a member of FISS, but must adhere to the entry regulations of that event regarding entry fees. If they wish to compete more than this then an additional £10 per event shall be payable to FISS.  Alternatively, the skater can join FISS under the current rules of membership (see Art. 16).  All entry fees are to be paid to FISS or the Club holding the event.

Me thinks that if you race in a FISS race, you have to wear a skinsuit too...

Rather disappointed that our team FISS members haven't registered for this yet. We need to let FISS know the names, numbers and categories by the end of the week. We need a good turnout from the team to support our own event.

Post on here if you are coming on the day to race. Race number and category. If you are unsure of your category just post that.
