Seba (french super-freestyler for you speeders that don't know who I'm talking about ) tested the Landroller skates and posted this on askaboutskating.com forum:
Hi,
I tried those skates during ISPO summer in Munich. In my point of view, even if you can do many things with those skates, you can do more with normal inline skates and better. Landroller can be good to go straight, but only straight... I could do many thing with the skates, like spinning, but I felt not very confident in my moves and in the skates strenght.
I tried the skates indoor with a bad floor, so I don't know about their performance outdoor on asphalt... Here is my feedback after one first try, don't take it as if I had tried it really in real testing conditions :
negative points :
- the boots which was on the frames in ISPO was low quality fitness boot, too soft, and you feel you can break it and your ankle if you do something wrong.
- the angle of the wheels is strange feeling and you have to keep all your wheels on the ground, if you try to go on one wheel only, you have to adapt yourself to the angle and it's not very confortable, you feel not controlling your skates. The skates go alone on one side and don't go straight when you stay on one wheel on each skate.
-braking is not very confortable due to the hardness of the wheels.
- The wheels are very hard and the PU is very thin and very hard too. If you skate a long time, I felt you would change the wheels very often.
positive points :
The size of the wheels make you go on rough surface easily and you keep speed.
You can take off the frame easily and mount it on better boots.
Even if the wheels are big, the skates are low and you have better efficiency in your pushing, and more confidence as if it was higher.
The skates are easy to use .
Please tell your feelings after trying those skates outside in normal conditions and many different surfaces. My little test was not very objctive since I used it 10min indoor.
Tried them at the ISPO myself and agree with most of what Seba has to say about them. I don't think Landroller skates are going to be a big hit...
Will see if I can find the post I did on them.
Cheers,
Andy.
