In view of the fact that there is currently much talk of indoor (as well as outdoor) training sessions and venues, the committee want to clarify the current position regarding liability insurance.

Following discussions with FISS it is POSSIBLE that some official club (LSST) training sessions are currently covered under the terms of their Insurance Policy, however it is important to note that at this time this is NOT confirmed. This is further complicated as to what actually qualifies as 'an official club training session (or event)' i.e. does it need to be led by a qualified BRSF coach, and if so what level.

We are currently investigating this situation, seeking clarification from both FISS and the insurers. In addition to this we are also looking into taking out our own policy to cover any shortfalls from the FISS cover.

In short, all members should be aware that cover is not certain and in this respect should understand that they skate at their own risk.

As always the committee recommend all skaters consider taking out their own individual cover for skating, to this end we are also investigating whether we can negotiate favorable terms with any insurance company specifically for members.

If you have any questions regarding this please let us know.

Committee

We're also working on forms to download so you can carry out a risk assessment of the areas in which you train (coming very soon!)

It is a legal UK requirement under the Riddor regulations to report any serious incidents (the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous  Occurrences Regulations 1995). I'd strongly advise you to report these incidences even if this wasn't an official LSST activity, we will do our best to advise you!

You need to report:
deaths
major injuries
accidents resulting in over 3 day injury
diseases
dangerous occurrences
gas incidents

How to do it? Simly contact one of the committee via PM or to the registered address.

I'd been constaintly filling out forms - especially if you count car journeys to the events for the last one...
