Forgot to add, watching the elite race was amazing.... the final sprint was done upwind at such a speed... Loads of respect!

I don't know what to say really, first I would like to thank my familly, my coach, my team mates, my sponsor and my mana... Hmmm wait wrong speech it was actually my podium speech but in the end I didn't use it...
More seriously, first i would like to thank Alex and Kat for the organisation of the trip and for all the driving part
Alex , Kat and Erika have done well in the open race, regarding the level of the open race it is true that it was quite high, for example lot of my french team mates just decided to gave up on the national category this year and enter the open category, as a consequence open races are really tough now. I read somewhere than actually the open category is actually a midle category (elite, open, fitness). I should have bring my skinsuit for you alex
The elite and national race was 13 laps but not that much skaters in the end. As usual in order to have a good excuse I put my skates on 10 minutes before the race ang get them really tight (I can add than now I'm blond so that can explain...), after the start I managed to follow the pack but I had once again my favorite stiff in the bottom of my leg, plus I realize than my skates were too tight, so I just slow down...
The problem at that level is that without the pack you're just alone... after two laps I just stopped in order to do my laces setup again as i was no longer able to go on like that.
I have to admit than at this point I was seriously thinking of give up... I was just so slow... It was just embarassing, thank again to Alex, Kat and Erika for supporting me during all the race, it was definitely helpfull I owe you now
I managed to finish the race even if for the last lap the track was closed (but it seems than the judges didn't find usefull to stop me on the line...anyway
At the end of the race it was the rainning, and with my brand new wheel it was not really skating, but still no point to give up so it was 9 kilometers trying to survive on the track, and sometimes I was not far from checking the ground
unofficial finish time 1h39 (but still the last lap with the track closed and barreers under the rain was not very significant lol.
(My guess without the rain is 1h30 or something like that...)
At this point I think I will have to wait 2 month in order to get my previous year level so I will enter the open category for all the other races, and hopefully I will come back in the national category in 2006.
One inch at a time...
ps : About the 84 mm version of the intzcore spider wheels, I think than it is a terrible mistake to use them on rough surfaces, I leraned it the hard way on sunday (half of the track was a rough surface), the 100mm are probably better, but with small wheels it was just painful... |

| Fred, that is so tough, i feel you pain. The Intzcore wheels are very hard on the gound (maybe because of the aluminium hub). I don't think the 100mm ones will not be that much better on really poor gound.. but we live and learn. I know what it is like to see the pack pulling away.. it makes me choke up just thinking of it. |

Don't know, it was not painfull, well not that much, usually it comes for an unproper warm up. This time it was more because I had my skates too tight.
I will see in the next race
lol Alex, I was thinking the same thing you know, at least I know I can skate faster, I was a bit scared to discover an higher average speed ( because it will have mean I have no chance to catch the other guys later in the season ) |

Well done guys - an excellent showing - were you wearing your new skates Erika? Your race sounds pretty gruelling Fred - but you stuck to it and finished |
