For me it was the most difficult marathon I did so far. I had a slow start due to the skates I did on friday and saturday evening. But after a few laps I got into my rhythm and had a constant race. In the last laps I could turn up my speed and just finished into the first 20. Funny is that I did 5 laps in exactly 4 minutes.
Thanks to the organisers and volunteers, it was a great day.

As a first timer doing the marathon I was shocked (so many hills) impressed (so many people helping) and really tired at the end (so many miles).
All my appreciation to those that made it possible. |

| Nice piccies, Steev. I see Matt Price hawking for the line when he should have taken two more strides. Probably cost him £120 as Hans pipped him by about a skate length. The finish is uphill so you need to lunge for the line of your last stride in a tight finish or you lose a lot of speed. |

| I can get you a full set on DVD if you like - for promoting next year's race or whatever. |

| Cheers. They would be great just to update the LIM website with stuff that actually happend there, since we don't actually have any skating photos on the LIM site. Be nice to put a few on the LSST site redesign that's happening at some point in the nearly distant future. |

Well we made it back home safe and sound yesterday evening. Thanks to everybody for putting up another great event on this mean circuit. I think we can now safely decommission it, with the last winner ever being LSST member well done to Hans.
Also thanks for the Sat "stroll" - definitely not a good race preparation, but a great time out - please try to put this in again next year!
I'll put pics in the Gallery at some point, might take a bit though. |

Thanks to the London team for the friendly organisation. It was nice meeting up with some of the London skaters that I met in Lille.
Thanks to Ray and Helen for looking after my mum
It was hard, hard, hard, but I managed to finish my first marathon. (Thanks to the organisers for letting the really slow skaters finish )
In France I only ever get to do the 30km Open races, and the extra 12km and the hills is a real killer)

Well done for finishing. Picking LIM as your first full marathon and completing it is a great achievement. It puts quite a few people off doing more but if you can do LIM at Lee Valley then you can do just about any race going and you have an easy target to beat your personal best.
I think we got the time limit perfect this year. Everyone that wanted to finish did so. Cut off was last lap started by 3h15m last finisher was 3h15m31s to complete the whole thing. |

Anyone who would like to contribute in any way to next year's organisation then we would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Of course it depends on the date but if you tell us in priciple that you would like to help if you can then we can contact you nearer the time. |
I wanted to contribute to this year event but unfortunately I didn't. But for next year I'd like to help with the organisation of the event.
Thank you to all the people who helped to make this event such a great success.
Last year I said I will try to bring some french skaters to participate, we had a few this time but fortunately more will come next time.
About the race now
For my first LIM I have to say I wasn't disapointed it was exactly as I was told
I wasn't in a great shape on the day, so I wasn't really looking forward to the event.
It's been tough, fortunately the race wasn't too fast…in fact I don't know, for the day it was enough and I barely manage to do what had to be done. And My skates were almost not painfull ^^, the perfect day really
So far it's my best race this year
Eventually I will miss Lee Lalley ^^
So far the comments I had on the LIM are great, good organisation, nice spirit, the time limit was also much appreciated.
Well done everybody ! |
