Anyone up for this one? I'm planning to do it, I'd like to cycle back too. The official ride is supposed to be 50 flat and fast miles, so it'd make a nice first imperial century for me if I manage the return trip.
Maybe we can do a team entry if enough are keen? July 24th.

(I have to confess I was thinking about doing the Dunwich Dynamo before this, but I chickened out ) |

| I'm interested Mike. Both my brother and me would like to do it and possibly a friend as well. |

That's actually a good idea, I'd be up for skating it, it's only a double marathon we should easily be able to do it if we take it slow and steady.
I'm up for skating it if it's dry, if it's wet I reckon I'm gonna resort to the recumbent. An LSST paceline would be the mother of all ways to get some super publicity for the club amongst some 4000 keen cyclists and no doubt fitness freaks. |

| I'll put it down as tentative too. I'm sure Rick has some info for us on conditions of the route... pretty sure he's done it before. |

I think I remember hearing Rick say that road aren't the smoothest once you leave "London". We did the London to Southend ride last year and I don't think I (or anyone) would have liked to skate it. I personally found it hard enough on me bike.
I'd like to do maybe one or two or those long bike rides this summer again and as I've just received the brochure from the organisers it's getting tempting. May be more keen if others are interested too (although seeing how active I am this year, I'll probably end up working again or something ). Check out cycle-events.co.uk or something similar for full calendar and entry forms. |

| Would you accept French imports if you skate it, one of them an old and battered veteran ? |

I don't know about the whole route but the roads through the villages near Clavering are far from skate friendly. Unless they have been relayed with a different material since I lived there (10 years ago) it would be very very unpleasant to skate on them indeed.
The roads are in good condition, but rough. I tried to skate in Berden (near Clavering) last year and gave in, the vibrations were actually painful.
It does depend on the route though, there are some very nice stretches, e.g. Stansted->Ugley->Newport. |

Game's on!
I'll do the paper work later on.
Mike, what time is your starting block?
XSFred, mor than welcom to join me... but remember I'm nowhere your speed
I'm planning to do the 50 miles at a slow-medium pace, I want to finish more than anything so expect 5-6 hours of skating.

Of course you're welcome Fred! Do you need a place to stay, you're welcome in our house of course.
Alex, I've not even entered yet. I better get that done I guess! If I don't get in I'm just gonna bandit it. |
