London to Eastbourne
21st of July
7:00 from Hyde Park
or
9:30-10:00 from Chiddingstone Causeway, station name Penshurst (intermediate point).
The route
Hopefully the weather will play ball with us and we will be able to enjoy a late afternoon on eastbourne sea side! The route is planned to be 110-120km (60-65mi) from london or 70km (40mi) from the intermediate point. Most route will be with low traffic but some medium roads might not be avoidable. The route is also not fixed as condition on the day might force a re routing. I have tried to minimize downhills ending up in T-Junction or with severe corners but I'm working from maps and have only skated 30% of the proposed route.
current version of the route
Return will be by train.
Level required
Everyone confident to skate on open road with sometime low visibility, downhills and traffic. You must be able to maintain decent speed (18-20km/h) for 6-7 hours or (4 hours from intermediate point).
Note you can always bail out at the intermediate point, if you realize this is not for you. But you will be missing the nicest part of the route.
Cyclist are also more than welcome. I will invite a few people from work if they are interested to join.
Heavy rain will see the day canceled.
Please let me know if you are interested so that we can get fully organized (or if I'll end up alone ).

| Not the week before Goodwood. The week after LIM I am up for quite a long ramble and August is remarkably vacant. |

Sure do! www.xialy.com/photos/stuff/l2ePreview.jpg
Not fully finalized as I'm not sure about some point. 30% will be stuff I have done before, 70% unknown. Try my best to avoid steep downhill gradients with corners or ending in T-Junctions. Will start from hyde park. I'll try to fit in a stop to a train station after the M25 to allow less fit (or adventurous) people to join in on the second half.

will miss you as pace setter! I know its in the middle of the full SIC season, but hey, I fancy a dip in the sea, so summer it is. I'll be doing at least another long skate later in the year after Berlin.

Why not, I'm not a competitive racer and seven days is plenty enough to recover. This is not a speed skate or a race but a leisure stroll. August is remarkably busy with the one eleven |

| I'm hoping to come along, as I can't do Goodwood again, but I'll be on my bike, provided that I can take my bike on a train back to London that is. |

Unfortunately we can't rely on the forecasts these days. If we've got a wishlist mine's an 11am start and a support car to carry my food
btw, if anyone's going to Decathlon in the next coupla days could they pick me up some of those fruit jelly bars? Any flavour apart from orange and honey.

Weather talks moved into general
Concerning the skate, we have an offer from Simon on LFNS Forum to bring his car as support vehicle. Thats just fantastic! |
