I spotted this in the Bont forum:

Quote:

They have finally officially notified the Federations.

World Masters Marathon championships, will be held in Hamburg Germany on the 24th April during the running of the Olympus Marathon.

Entries close 15th March.

Age groups, over 39, 40, 50 & 60, of course Male & female grades.

Starts 8.45am, cost 55 Euro, thats nearly $100 Kiwi & award ceremony will be 12.30pm, the course will only be open for 2 hours maximum, to complete your marathon in.

Cheers
Bill

Kay and myself would be quite keen to take part, so who do we need to contact at FISS or do we go through the club?

There is nothing special on the Hamburg marathon website or the registration except a tick box for Hmaburg Championships, which I think is something else. My guess is that you just register as the classifications are in the results anyway. It looks like an attempt to boost numbers at Hamburg which were sadly less than 900 last year. Still turned out to be a very quick race though. Not sure what this age stuff is all about though marathons in Germany are graded by decades anyway. Masters should be 50+ so neither of you will qualify for a few years yet. In the FISS rule book it says 60+. There are no active racers over 60 in the UK though.

I know its not on the Hamburg website, but it does seem to be an official FIRS competition, and the message I quoted says that the national federations have been notified.

Who is the contact at FISS who might have received notification from FIRS?
