Is anyone thinking of doing this?

It's in exactly four months and I've heard good things about the course - I'll definitely go if there's someone else up for making the trip.

Also what do people normally do transport/accommodation wise? Fly into Cologne and get a train/cab down to stay in Koblenz?

Fred and I want to go this year.  Last time we flew to Frankfurt and hired a car, then stayed in a hotel in Koblenz near the finish line.  Looking at flights etc is on my list of things to do this weekend, so will post info if we make any decisions

We did it a few years ago. It's nice; generally flat and fast with a good scenery. I've happy memories of teaming-up with some friendly Dutch/Germans when I figured out it was pointless constantly overtaking each other. For reference, this is the same weekend as the LondonRevolution cycle: http://www.london-revolution.com/

They have the usual entrance fee incentive for booking early:

from  31.12.2013   37
from  09.03.2014   42
from  20.04.2014   47

Strangely there are two categories:
"Speed" start time 13:45
"Fitness" start time 14:15

Watch out for the big gap between 'speed' and 'fitness'.  If you get dropped from the 'speed' group its a long way on your own.  Note also that this marathon attracts the top teams, so the 'speed' class is really quite fast.  If in any doubt enter the 'Fitness' class.

Fiona and I have already booked flights and accommodation for this and RheinRuhr. Porbably register on the day unless we do another block club entry.

We have booked as follows:

Flights - Heathrow to Frankfurt
out - 9:30 - 12:10
return 21:30 - 22:10

Hotel - Mercure Hotel Koblenz

We've also hired a car with space for 2 more people if anyone ends up on the same flight and would like a lift

I'd take you up on that offer!

Does anyone know what to do for this bit of the form?

Abholung der Startunterlagen am Startort, persönliche Ausgabe am Renntag (5 , HM=Boppard, IM=Bad Salzig, 10=Rhens)

Google translate says: Pick up the race packets at the starting location, personal edition on race day (5 , HM = Boppard, IM = Bad Salty, 10 = Rhens)

This means that you can get your chip, number etc. at the start instead of the usual place, which is the marathon fair near the finish.

Just signed up.  Is the plane preferable to the train (it seems possible by Eurostar etc)?

My flights (Easyjet, same as Rick's) were 92 including 20kg baggage and a seat reservation. That seems pretty reasonable.
