Third year running they are on the same weekend. 29th/30th May I am thinking of doing the double again with the evening train from Koblenz to Duisburg. Anyone else interested this year. I would like to book the races before the prices go up any more
Next price increase for Mittelrhein is on 1st Jan when it goes from €37 to €47.
Duisburg went up on Sunday by €5 and rises from €42 to €50 on 1st Jan.
So you have a 12 week window to get entered if you want to do one of the other or both. |

Was going to my #1 priority, before even Berlin, but alas Ed and Leah have other plans that day, so I will be in London |

Oh - I thought you had your best friend's wedding that weekend, so wouldn't be able to make mine...unless I'm your BFF?
But yeah, as much as I would have loved to have done this (and no, Mittelrhein as a stag do didn't go down well with Liya), I'm otherwise engaged...or married, should I say.
Oh well, on my 2011 radar! |

Last year we flew back from Weeze. You can get a minibus from Duisburg station but it's nicer to get one from Dusseldorf as it means not hanging around in Duisburg for starters.
This year I am thinking of doing it all without the aid of RyanAir. It is possible to fly to Cologne/Bonn on German Wings and then take a train direct from the airport to Koblenz. The a train on saturday evening to Duisburg (might have to change at Dusseldorf depending on which one) then Duisburg to Cologne/Bonn aiport or Dusseldorf to C/B or Duisburg to Cologne and hang about there for the afternoon. Quite flexible but it avoids RyanAir which is always a good thing.
I might have my bike license by then so there is a possibility of riding instead but I'm not sure about that at the moment. |

Seems impossible to enter Mittelrhein in advance this year without a german bank account. Even the downloadable form want that information. Silly. How many of us are going so we can inform the organisers. I don't particluarly want to pay an extra 20€ to enter on the day.
I have entered the Rhein-Rhur by card though. |

Still planning on doing both, Alan?
I'm going to book hotels for friday and saturday night quite soon. With two up I think it may be cheaper to rent a car than take all those train journeys *2 but I cen research that in the new year. |

Yes planning to do the two. So if you can find rooms /cars etc., will share cost.
About The Mittelrhein Entry, do you think it is just an error? It has two options on the payment page and both are the same ( debit , with German bank A/C). |

Looks like an error. First few times I did it there was an option for overseas people to check so you paid on the day but registered in advance. Quite bizarre because their organisation was such that they didn't know if you had paid when you got there. I entered so many races one year that I couldn't remember either and didn't actually pay. Only really realised the following year that I definately hadn't when they had the same system. That seems to be at an end now or the website isn't working properly.
Last year, entered last minute on the day. Tanya blagged us all discounted entries by quoting Alex Berger's name. We should be able to do the same again this year but it would be better to supply a list of names to Alex and get an email back from him which we can present at registration to show that we are entitled to the early price because we tried to book early. Better to do it all in one go than everyone send in individual emails. |

Happy to help out with a German account if needed. The SantaSkate would be a good chance to directly settle any debts directly in GBP |

Thanks, that would be great as far as I'm concerned. I assume it means you need to fill in the entry form. I will PM you my details. |
